War veteran Giang Mi Pao’s tireless efforts to change lives of people in Suoi Dong
War veteran Giang Mi Pao was born in 1944. He served in the military for six years and was admitted to the Party. After completing military service, the former soldier came back to his hometown and was appointed the village’s head. Mr. Pao recalled that in early 1980s, people in the locality faced numerous difficulties since they lacked cultivation land, proper production tools, seedlings, capital, and farming techniques. The whole hamlet had only 2 hectares of land for one-crop rice growing and locals used to suffer from hunger for 4 to 6 months/year. As the only party member in the hamlet at that time and a former soldier who had joined the national resistance war, Mr. Pao kept thinking about locals’ difficulties and how to develop local economy, eliminate hunger, and reduce poverty sustainably. GS chief asks for pro-activeness in giving advice to handle situations
A report delivered at the meeting confirmed that the GS has directed the whole military to implement and complete their duties according to September plan. Vinamarine believes a hike in container handling fees takes regional competitiveness into account, photo Le Toan The Vietnam Maritime Administration (Vinamarine), under the Ministry of Transport, has proposed an increase of 10-20 per cent in container handling fees at seaports. The draft circular aims to replace Circular No.54/2018/TT-BGTVT on the charge bracket for pilotage, wharf, dock, and mooring buoy utilisation, container handling, and towage services at Vietnamese seaports. Vinamarine has sought feedback since the beginning of September. “It is suitable and essential to adjust the container handling fees by 10-20 per cent to ensure reinvestment capital for ports and upgrade service quality,” it noted. Integrated field exercise of peacekeeping forces opens
One of the important situations on the first day of the exercise was that some engineering troops unluckily got injured while getting close to explosives left over from the war. An integrated military observers-engineers-medical staff process was immediately activated to respond to this medical emergency case. The military medical team immediately rushed to the scene to classify and provide first aid to the victims. The military observer team on a nearby patrol route quickly approached the doctor, grasped the situation, assisted the engineering detachment in marking dangerous areas and reporting to the U.N. Mine Action Service and chains-of-command at all levels and asking for reinforcement from level-1 field hospital.
