The singing festival includes a number of activities, namely art performance contest under the theme “Southeastern region - Solidarity - Development and Integration,” Don Ca Tai Tu (Southern folk music) art contest entitled “Southern folk music Don Ca Tai Tu,” competition on writing new lyrics, modern dance competition, and large panel, photo, document and artifact exhibitions, drawing the participation of artists, artisans, actors, instrumentalists from Southeastern provinces and cities. The festival aims to popularize Tay Ninh province’s land and people to other provinces and cities in the Southeastern region, contributing to boosting regional linkages in tourism and investment promotion, and the exploitation of potentials and advantages of provinces and cities in the Eastern region. Tuyen Quang busy preparing for lantern festival
After a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tuyen Citadel Festival will again be held in the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang this year. One of the highlights of the festival is a procession of giant mid-autumn lanterns. For more than a month now, Hoang Ngoc Tung, a local resident in Tan Quang ward, has set aside his daily tasks to join with other residents in making a mid-autumn lantern. The lantern is based on the legend of the first ancestors of the Vietnamese people - Lac Long Quan and Au Co. Local residents hope to educate children about love of their homeland and remembering their place of origin. Hang Ma Street gears up for Mid-Autumn festival
Many products for the coming Mid-Autumn Festival are being sold on Hanoi’s Hang Ma Street. Paper masks featuring many popular characters in Vietnamese folk stories are sold well. Drum performances at the junction of Hang Ma and Hang Ga attract attention. Many young people visit the street to relax and take photos. The atmosphere at the street becomes more animated in the evening. Various kinds of traditional toys such as star-shaped lanterns are displayed at shops. Each lantern costs around VND15,000-30,000. A paper mask is sold at around VND30,000. The Mid-Autumn Market on Hang Ma Street is often open on the 15th of the lunar month of July.
