(Photo:VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines recently launched a direct air route connecting Hanoi with India’s Mumbai so as to strengthen trade, and socio-cultural connectivity between the two nations. This is the carrier’s second route connecting Vietnam and India, after New Delhi capital. Its Deputy General Director Trinh Ngoc Thanh said that with a new route linking to Mumbai, India's most important financial, commercial and cultural centre, the airline wants to show its commitment to continuously expanding and developing a network of routes, giving passengers many flexible options. Vietnam Airlines accomplishes SkyTeam’s Sustainable Flight Challenge
Vietnam Airlines has completed the Sustainable Flight Challenge, a sustainability initiative launched by the global airline alliance SkyTeam, on its flight VN37 leaving Hanoi for Germany’s Frankfurt. On the long-haul Hanoi-Frankfurt flight operated last Friday, the Vietnamese national flag carrier adopted environmental protection measures, such as giving its passengers bags recycled from old life jackets, serving sustainable meals, and encouraging passengers to carry their personal items instead of utilizing single-use items provided on board. The carrier collaborated with Limloop, a social business producing sustainable bags through plastic recycling and creating jobs for the disabled, to recycle old life jackets that no longer meet safety requirements into sustainable bags. Vietnam Airlines to resume route connecting Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia
From October 30, the number of flights will increase to five per week. According to a representative of the carrier, the resumption of the trans-Indochina route after a period of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic will bring many convenient flight options to tourists, complement the international flight network of Vietnam Airlines, and contribute positively to the recovery of the regional tourism industry and to trade, investment, and cultural exchange between the three nations. The airline is also running seven flights per week on another trans-Indochina route that connects Hanoi, Vientiane (Laos), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). The three patients were in critical condition while hospitals ran out of botulism antitoxin. On the evening of May 24, HCM City received six vials of botulism antitoxin from the World Health Organization to treat cases of botulism poisoning. Botulism is a rare but severe disease caused by a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Vietnam may hit 10 million foreign tourists this year: authority
Foreign tourists visit Temple of Literature (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam’s tourism may attract 10 million foreign tourist arrivals this year, surpassing the target of 8 million previously set by the sector, according to deputy head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Ha Van Sieu. In the first four months of this year, nearly 3.7 million foreign tourists travelled to Vietnam, and the number of domestic tourists was 38 million. Total revenue from tourists was estimated at 196.6 trillion VND (8.3 billion USD). Revenues from accommodation and catering services between January and April were estimated at 214.8 trillion VND, representing a year-on-year increase of 25%. Meanwhile, thanks to exciting cultural and tourism activities taking place in many localities in the early months of the year across localities, travel revenue was estimated at 9.1 trillion VND, nearly 2.1 times higher than the same period last year. Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways appoints new CEO in major exec. shakeup
A management shakeup continues at Vietnamese carrier Bamboo Airways as Nguyen Minh Hai has been named its new CEO, replacing his predecessor Nguyen Manh Quan, starting from Wednesday. The management board of Bamboo Airways recently passed a resolution appointing Hai to this post after it approved Quan’s letter of resignation. According to the carrier, Hai has 25 years of experience in aviation. Before joining Bamboo Airways, Hai held various key posts at Vietnam Airlines Group and its subsidiaries such as vice-general director at Vietnam Airlines Group and general director at Cambodia Angkor Air, the national flag carrier of neighboring Cambodia. The appointment is a part of Bamboo Airways’ restructuring plan, especially in management. Vietnam a top pick for Indian tourists as direct flights increase
Data from online booking travel site Agoda showed searches for Vietnam by Indian tourists between January 2019 to mid-May in 2023 grew more than for Southeast Asian neighbors like Thailand (147%), Singapore (215%) and Indonesia (256%), CNBC reported. The launch of a series of direct routes in recent years has made Vietnam a top pick among Indian travelers. Before 2019, there were no direct flights from India to Vietnam. In 2019, Vietjet became the first Vietnamese carrier to operate a direct service to India, one of Vietnam's growing tourism markets before the pandemic. Last year, Vietnam Airlines launched direct services between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi, becoming the second Vietnamese carrier to fly to India. Vietnamese airlines have announced plans to open more international air routes this summer. Budget airlines VietJet Air will open a daily air route from HCM City to Jakarta, Indonesia, from August 5. The carrier will also launch flights linking HCM City and Kochi (India) from August 12 and their Phu Quoc-Hong Kong (China), Danang-Hong Kong and Danang-Daegu (South Korea) and Nha Trang-Seoul (South Korea) flights this summer. International passengers at Noi Bai International Airport Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines will resume flights on the Hanoi-Luang Prabang (Laos)-Siem Reap (Cambodia) with a frequency of three flights per week.
