International flights to operate from Phu Cat airport
The move was made after the provincial People’s Committee asked the Ministry of Transport to allow international flights to operate out of the Phu Cat airport to cope with the growing number of tourists. Domestic carriers Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways have a plan to open international flights to serve tourists from Quy Nhon to Thailand, Japan, the Republic of Korea and China in 2019. Ho Quoc Dung, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said tourism development was a priority for the local economy. To promote tourism development, the province had implemented tourism promotion activities, he said. In 2017, Binh Dinh welcomed 3.7 million tourists, up 15.6 percent over 2016, and 3.4 million tourists in the first nine months of this year. The Vietnam Airlines Corporation (ACV) has completed infrastructure at the airport including a parking lot and domestic terminal to meet the demands of domestic and international passengers. Vietnam carriers could launch direct flights to US as early as this year
Vietnam Airlines, low-cost carrier VietJet and recently established Bamboo Airways are preparing to operate non-stop flights, reducing travel time by almost eight hours. Flights now take 20.5 hours to fly from Ho Chi Minh City to San Francisco via South Korea's Incheon International Airport, while the planned direct service to major cities along the U.S. West Coast would take only around 13 hours. In February the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted a Category 1 rating to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) under its International Aviation Safety Assessment program, which means the latter meets safety standards to operate flights to the U.S. In February two of Vietnam’s low-cost carriers inked deals worth a total of $21 billion with U.S. corporations when President Donald Trump visited Hanoi for his second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Budget airline VietJet struck a deal with U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing to buy 100 new … [Read more...] about Vietnam carriers could launch direct flights to US as early as this year
Vietnam is only country still developing condotels
The Vietnamese condotel market, the only one in the region, shows serious problems because of legal deadlocks. Kai Marcus Schroter, CEO of Hospitality Tourism Management, commented that local authorities still lack necessary knowledge when assessing condotel projects. Running a condotel is not similar to operating a housing or hotel project. In the real estate market, the world once witnessed a condotel boom 15-20 years ago in the Mediterranean and Europe. But now this kind of product no longer has influence on the market. Thailand also saw a condotel boom 5-10 years ago, but there have been no new condotel projects. The investment model does not bring high profits as thought. In most Asia-Pacific markets, this product is no longer developed. The committed profit of 10 percent per annum is not seen in any other market in the world except Vietnam. The high committed profit rate is seen in Vietnam because many businesses still do not understand the operations of condotels. The … [Read more...] about Vietnam is only country still developing condotels
Bike-packing in Vietnam: why not?
Emanuel Hänsenberger, 24, and Fabian Seiler, 25, from Switzerland, who were also inspired to come to the Southeast Asian country by a tourist’s video on Youtube, spent 4 weeks traveling over 1700 km from Hanoi to Saigon by motorbike. “I’m a bike fanatic, and I heard that Vietnam is great to travel by bike,” said Hänsenberger. They bought two Honda Wins on their third day in Hanoi and started the trip southwards. “We didn’t have any specific plan, except from that we didn’t want to spend too much time in touristic places. So no schedule, we just decided spontaneously.” Hänsenberger recalled. "What impressed me the most was the people, like it was very easy to build friendships and have an emotional bond in a short time with a lot of them," said Hänsenberger.
