Lao Airlines, the national carrier of Laos, announced on Tuesday it is now offering a new route from the southern city Paske to Vietnam's central coast province of Da Nang. Hong Kong-based airline Dragonair said on the same day that it will open a new route to the Vietnamese province in March. Lao Airlines said it will operate three flights in a week - on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday - to and from Paske, using an ATR 72 aircraft with a capacity of 68 passengers, news website thoibaokinhtesaigon.vn reported. The cost for a one-way ticket is set at VND2.2 million (US$106); round-trip tickets are VND4.01 million ($191). Huynh Duc Trung, an official of Da Nang's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the new flight route connecting the province with Paske was the result of the efforts of local authorities in both countries. A Vietnamese flight had to land at Vientiane Airport in Laos due to bad weather while flying from Danang to Hanoi on June 7.Vietnam Airlines flight VN168 took off at 4pm from Danang International Airport and headed to Hanoi. Two hours later, passengers were informed that they were being diverted to Vientiane because of really bad weather.After landing, while many passengers were still bewildered by the experience, they were told that the weather had improved and the flight would took off to Hanoi in 15 minutes. The flight however was delayed after crew said the plane needed maintenance and refill.Many people started to become agitated. Half an hour later, each passenger were only given a hamburger.On 9.30pm, another notice came in that the plane had technical problem and need repairs so passengers were guided into the airport.
