On the morning of November 30 last year, Minh, now 29, received an email from his employers at DoorDash, the largest online food delivery company in the U.S. The company announced that it was letting him go. Just a day earlier, Minh was still the leader of one of the company’s finance management team. When he received the email, Minh had already studied and worked in the finance field in the U.S. for over a decade. Work on 4 southern Vietnam expys could start simultaneously in mid-June
The Ministry of Transport is seeking the prime minister’s nod to concurrently break ground on four expressway projects in southern Vietnam, namely Beltway No. 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, and Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang, on June 18. The ministry said in a report sent to the prime minister that the localities in charge of the development of these road projects had suggested different dates, ranging from June 17 to 30, and different locations to break ground on them. To ensure the groundbreaking ceremonies take place in a formal and cost-efficient manner, the ministry proposed that they should be held on June 18 in a hybrid format in four locations. Hanoi police bust ring smuggling drugs from Europe to Vietnam
Police in Hanoi have arrested four suspects and seized more than 62kg of synthetic drugs, cracking down on a ring that smuggled drugs disguised as food and home appliances from European countries into Vietnam. The kingpin, 27-year-old Hoang Tien Dung, hailing from northern Hung Yen Province, was arrested during a coordination between the police of Hanoi and their colleagues in Hung Yen from May 4 to 7. To create a screen to hide his illegal drug smuggling, Dung set up an agency providing purified water and a night eatery in Hung Yen but used these facilities as the places to receive and deliver drugs, Hanoi police reported on Tuesday. Also detained with Dung were his two accomplices, Tran Van Tuan, 19, and Dao Ngoc Long, 35, both from Hung Yen. Mother, son hospitalized after eating cicada larvae in Vietnam’s Dong Nai
A woman and her 12-year-old son in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam have been hospitalized for food poisoning after eating fried cicada larvae with young fungi outside. N. N.T.T.N., a resident of Xuan Tho Commune, Xuan Loc District, Dong Nai Province, said she and his son, P.H.T., ate larvae measuring some three centimeters each at about 4:00 pm on Tuesday. The larvae were cicada larvae with many white and grey young fungi outside and one-centimeter red fungi on their heads, N. added N. ate two larvae and T. downed five. They developed the symptoms of dizziness, stomach pain, repeated vomiting, diarrhea, hand and leg tremors, and fatigue an hour after eating the larvae, so they were rushed to the Long Khanh General Hospital in Dong Nai for first aid.
