C.bank withdraws dong via bill issues Nam Duc HCMC – The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has issued over VND36.9 trillion (US$1.6 billion) in 14-day treasury bills to withdraw Vietnam dong funds given ample liquidity in the banking system. Meanwhile, treasury bills worth a combined VND23.7 trillion have fallen due, leaving a net withdrawal of some VND13.2 trillion. The central bank has net withdrawn VND103.2 trillion in the past 18 weeks through debt sales. According to a Bao Viet Securities Company report, the coupon of 14-day treasury bills hovers around a record low of 0.5% a year, nearly the same as the overnight rate for Vietnam dong loans on the interbank market. This indicates banks are sitting on huge amounts of cash. Open market operations (OMO) have seen no net withdrawals or net injections in the past 19 weeks. A banker told the Daily that interbank rates are now at multi-year lows and so do coupons of treasury bills. (CPV) - Striker Le Cong Vinh fires Vietnam to help the national men’s football team beat Singapore 3-0 in the final of the AYA Bank Cup 2016 in Yangon (Myanmar) on June 6th to take the trophy the first time it attends. Strikers Le Cong Vinh, Nguyen Van Quyet and substitute Dinh Thanh Trung each scored one goal in extra time following a scoreless draw in regular time. After a resolute Lions display kept the Vietnamese at bay throughout 90 minutes, it took just 25 seconds of extra time for the deadlock to be broken through a strike from 31-year-old talismanic captain Le Cong Vinh. NEW YORK, October 14, 2010 - A sharp drop in bank shares dragged US stock markets into the red Thursday as concerns over a deepening foreclosure scandal outweighed hopes for new government stimulus to boost the economy. Shares in Bank of America slumped 5.2 percent, Wells Fargo stocks dropped 4.2 percent, Citigroup shares dove 4.5 percent and JPMorgan Chase's shares lost 2.8 percent. On Wednesday, attorneys general from all 50 states agreed to join forces to investigate mortgage lenders' foreclosure practices, after major banks moved to freeze foreclosures. "Uncertainty created by foreclosure suspensions might delay the recovery in bank lending to both businesses and households," said analyst Chris Lafakis of Moody's Economy.com.
