Vietnam makes top 10 in Miss Grand International fan poll

The latest update reveals that Ngoc Thao, the Vietnamese representative at the global beauty contest, is among the leading contestants in terms of votes. The list was made up of Miss Grand Philippines, Miss Grand Ecuador, Miss Grand Paraguay, Miss Grand Mexico, Miss Grand Myanmar, Miss Grand Peru, Miss Grand Brazil, along with Miss Grand Guatemala. The competition’s organising board said fans can continue to vote for their favourite contestants in order to select the best five candidates. The five beauties with the highest points will have the chance to enjoy a special meal alongside Nawat Itsaragrisil, president and the Founder of Miss Grand International Organization. At present, Ngoc Thao is undergoing a 14-day quarantine period alongside other foreign contestants. During their spell in quarantine, participants will still be able to attend a number of activities which are due to take place on the sidelines of the event. These activities will be done from their  rooms via online platforms such as Facebook or Zoom, including introductions, interviews, and a souvenir auction. Miss Grand International makes up one of the six major global beauty contests which is held annually, alongside Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Earth, and Miss Supranational. Hanoi gives fines to coronavirus misinformation

The Hanoitimes - Hanoi police will enhance the crackdown to tighten control over the dissemination of fake news in the Covid-19 pandemic period. Hanoi police and the municipal Department of Information and Communication have imposed a series of fines on those posting Covid-19 fake news or rumors on social media. The municipal police said many people have made use of the complicated evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic to spread fake news on social media to earn likes, views and shares. This has showed confusion among people and made it more difficult for pandemic prevention. The news mainly contained false and fabricated information about Covid-19 patients and those who made contact with the infected cases. Photo: Kinhtedothi.vn The municipal Department of Information and Communications has asked the violators to remove the fake news posts, pledge not to repeat the offense and fined VND7.5 million (US$325) for individuals. The Facebook account holders later admitted the act of posting fake news on social media with a view to increasing traffic for their fan pages. Since the latest Covid-19 broke out in Vietnam, police in Hanoi have handled a number of fake news dissemination. However, none of those who spread fake news has faced criminal charges so far but were handed fines of VND10-15 million (US$427- 641) under Decree 174/2013 on administrative violations of post and telecommunications, information technology and radio frequency regulations. Previously, Hanoi police launched a crackdown on spreading false rumors under the guidance issued by the Supreme Court on the application of the Penal Code on the prosecution of offenses committed in the pandemic periods in 2020. Government e-portal deserves to be mainstream media outlet

The Hanoitimes - The Government e-portal has successfully disseminated activities of the Vietnamese government on global cyberspace over the past 15 years. The Party's guidelines, the State's laws and the Prime Minister’s direction on socio-economic development, national defense and foreign affairs have been timely delivered on the Portal. The portal has bridged the government, people and businesses and is an effective communication channel between the Prime Minister and leaders of ministries and branches. The Government's fan page has nearly 1.4 million regular followers. In the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the fan page has reached almost all Facebook users in Vietnam (about 60 million people) and provided them with useful information on Covid-19 prevention.
