PM receives outgoing British ambassador
The PM commended the ambassador’s active contributions to promoting the Vietnam-U.K. strategic partnership in all fields, diplomatic channels and people-to-people exchange. Mentioning the U.K.-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKFTA), Chinh said the deal has played a role in forging the bilateral economic and trade ties, with two-way trade standing at nearly 6.6 billion USD last year, up 17.2% year-on-year. This is an activity in the framework of the initiative Gender Stereotype Circle Breaking – one of the four initiatives to be sponsored by the Asian Gender Trainers’ Network Programme. During the two days of training, through experiential games, role-playing, and debating methods, the teachers had the chance to gain knowledge about gender concepts, gender equality, norms, stereotypes, and domestic and international legal frameworks. Workshop highlights need for Innovation index framework in public sector
Highlighting positive impacts of innovations, NIC Deputy Director Vo Xuan Hoai said they contribute up to 95% of the national economic competitiveness and that 66% of innovation values impact people’s daily activities. Many economists shared the view that innovations are necessary in both public and private sectors, adding that they will create opportunities for the public sector to lead and orient the private one. ASEAN proposes peaceful settlement of East Sea issue
The officials discussed the issue during the first working day of the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-55) and relevant meetings which opened on August 3 in Cambodia – the Chair of ASEAN 2022. Speaking at a press conference later the same day, Secretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and spokesperson of AMM-55 Kung Phoak said the meeting suggested stakeholders to settle the East Sea-related issue by peaceful means which have been developed on the basis of recognized principles and laws, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982.
