In the video, the miniature long-haired dachshund named Fifi is seen snuggled under blankets. British owner Helen Rosalie, who adopted the miniature long-haired dachshund in Hong Kong when the dog was one year old, she’s now four, said Fifi was "calm and collected" throughout the 11-hour flight, according to the South China Morning Post . While Fifi looked comfortable, many online observers were not. "It seems a bit sad that you’d prefer to spend tens of thousands on a dog and call it your daughter, when there are thousands of children in care homes that could become a real daughter," one person wrote. Another netizen said the video was "hard for me to see", because the money spent on Fifi’s travel could have fed starving children and saved lives. Many other followers were pleased to see airlines accommodating pets, while others commended Fifi for her exemplary behavior onboard: "My kids don’t behave this well," wrote one. However, the owner is quick to remind followers … [Read more...] about Hong Kong dog flies business class, sparking online row over pampering

The restaurant's daytime set up of 7-8 tables expands with an additional 10 tables on nearby sidewalks during the busiest hours of 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Up to 80 diners can dine at the shop during this time. Three sellers, 58-year-old Kim Oanh, her sister Kim Cuc, and the sisters' sister-in-law, manage the restaurant at No.3 Tran Phu Street. The business is separated into three distinct shifts, each of which is overseen by one of the trio. On average, the shop sells about 400 to 500 bowls of pho per day. According to Oanh, each shift she and her employees serve customers while simultaneously preparing food for the following day. Powerful plan mooted for tourism
Photo: Chi Cuong At VIR’s roundtable discussion on seeking a boost for inbound tourism last week, editor-in-chief Le Trong Minh opened the roundtable with a fact-based observation, and noted that the country has yet to unlock the full potential of its tourism industry. “While the tourism sector contributes a significant 9.2 per cent of the country’s total GDP, equivalent to $32.8 billion, this number remains low compared to the global average,” he said. In 2023, the tourism sector aims to welcome eight million international visitors. While this is a modest number compared to the level achieved in 2019 of 19 million visitors, it is a challenging target as the market is undergoing many changes and new trends post-pandemic. Explaining this, Hoang Nhan Chinh, secretariat director of the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board assessed that group tours are seeing a decline, and tourists known as frequent independent travellers are on the rise. “An essential step is to understand the … [Read more...] about Powerful plan mooted for tourism

They have lost their homes due to deforestation, often linked to coal mining, and palm oil and timber plantations. But the giant apes could face an even bigger threat as Southeast Asia's largest country builds from scratch Nusantara - a new $32 billion city. A male Orangutan called 'Boni' is seen at the Arsari Orangutan Sanctuary Center located near Indonesia's projected new capital called Nusantara, in Sepaku, East Kalimantan province, Indonesia, March 7, 2023.
