The revisions aim to legalize the granting of e-visas to foreigners in order to make it easier for them to visit Vietnam. The Law on Exit, Entry, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam took effect in 2015. Revisions to the law would fine-tune immigration law while meeting the requirements of administrative reform and ensuring national defense and security and complying with the Party guidelines and State policies on national renewal and international integration. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, a deputy for Can Tho city, said the revisions aim to institutionalize Vietnam’s foreign policy and comply with trade agreements Vietnam has signed. Gotabaya Rajapaksa is declared the winner in a poll that has split the country along ethnic lines. Official results showed Mr Rajapaksa, 70, took 52.25% of the vote. His rival Sajith Premadasa had already conceded. Mr Rajapaksa was the clear victor in Sinhalese majority areas while Mr Premadasa scored better in the Tamil-dominated north. The election is Sri Lanka's first since the deadly Easter Sunday attacks. Militants linked to the Islamic State group targeted churches and high-end hotels across the island in April, killing more than 250 people. As a result, national security was seen as a dominant issue ahead of the vote. Petrolimex had developed the plan to exit its financial arm PGBank or Petrolimex Group Commercial Joint Stock Bank in 2015, Tuyen told reporters and analysts last week. In 2015, Petrolimex and the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) signed an agreement that allowed the latter to acquire PGBank through a share-swap deal. The deal collapsed on April 21, 2018. The same day, HCM City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (HDBank) approved the merger with PGBank and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) then agreed with the basic principles of the deal.
