In his remarks, Ngo Sy Anh, General Manager of Vietnam Airlines branch in Japan, affirmed the importance of the Japanese market to the company. Before the pandemic, the airline ran 68 flights every week to connect four major cities of Japan to Vietnam’s Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. In 2019, it carried 1.6 million passengers on these routes. With the Vietnamese Government deciding to resume regular international flights from January 1 last year, Vietnam Airlines is now operating 42 flights linking the countries. At the event, participating Vietnamese travel, accommodation companies and carriers introduced Vietnam’s potential and attractive sites to their Japanese peers. It said previously, Cambodians visited Vietnam mainly for medical services, but over several recent years, the inflow of middle-class visitors from the neighboring country to Vietnam for tourism purpose has been rising, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic was put under control. Tran Quoc Thinh, Director of Tay Ninh province’s Tourism Promotion Center said Cambodia is a traditional tourism market of Tay Ninh, which shares a 240-km border with Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Vieng and Tboung Khmum provinces. The conference, themed “Promoting the role of world cultural and natural heritage in sustainable development in Vietnam,” was jointly held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO and the Hanoi People’s Committee. It formed part of activities marking 35 years since Vietnam ratified the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. The participants reviewed the protection and promotion of world cultural and natural heritage values in Vietnam, and exchanged experience in state management and the optimization of world heritage values in local socio-economic development. The event, jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union's Central Committee, the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Vanguard Children's Union and the provincial People's Committee, drew 263 delegates representing 1,000 outstanding children who showed good deeds in 2023. In the six peak weeks of the movement, 66,484 activities were held nationwide, with 27,931 individuals and 4,208 collectives honored. So far, the mobile app "Em lam viec tot" (We do good things) has drawn 1.5 million children who conducted 36 million good activities. Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, China from April 25 to 27. The trip will be made at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release on Monday. The Vietnamese premier will attend the forum’s opening on April 26 before joining President Xi and his spouse in a dinner on the evening of the same day. On April 27, PM Phuc is scheduled to speak at a roundtable summit attended by leaders of 36 other nations and China. The Vietnamese head of government is also expected to hold bilateral talks with top Chinese leaders during his China trip.
