The Consular Club of Ho Chi Minh City (Consular Club HCMC) hosted a fundraising dinner in the city on Saturday evening to raise funds for disadvantaged children, minority girls, and needy people in southern Vietnam. Hanoi received 18.9 million tourists in the first nine months of this year. With effect from September 25 and until February next year the government has temporarily waived visas for mainland Chinese visitors in a bid to boost tourism during the peak year-end season. During this five-month period it expects to attract 2.9 million Chinese travelers, Chai said on the Royal Thai Government Facebook page. In September alone, the country welcomed more than 1 million foreign visitors, down 13.4% month-on-month. In the January-September period, 87.5% of foreign tourists chose to travel to Vietnam by air, 11.8% by road, and the remainders by sea.
