This workshop was part of the project “Local Development and Promotion of LED Technologies for Advanced General Lighting in Vietnam” (LED project), supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and UNDP. Energy labels This is the third in a series of workshops on implementation of the energy labeling program with an aim to introduce, guide and discuss energy labeling regulations to be readily prepared for compulsory labeling of LED lighting products as of 1 January 2020. Within the framework of the Energy labeling program for electrical equipment and appliances implemented by the MOIT since 2006, the LED Project has supported the MOIT to develop regulations and roadmap for labeling and certification of LED lighting products. To implement this program, the project continues to support the MOIT to develop a methodology to determine the appropriate energy efficiency levels and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plan for the implementation of the LED … [Read more...] about Energy labeling for LED lighting products boost energy efficiency

Energy efficiency standards great for economy, environment: workshop
Viet Nam News HCM City – The adoption of minimum energy performance standards will achieve a minimum saving of around VNĐ10 trillion (US$480 million) and a reduction of 34 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2030, a workshop heard in HCM City yesterday. Nguyễn Văn Thao, general director of the Việt Nam Academy of Science and Technology’s High Technology Development Center told the “Energy Labelling and Certification for LED lighting products” workshop: “The electricity saving will be about 6,000 GWh per year, equivalent to the electricity generated by two coal-fired power plants with a capacity of 500 MW.” This was the right time to implement the energy-labelling programme for LED lighting products, he said. United Nations Development Program (UNDP) expert My Ton emphasised the need to obtain sufficient market data to identify appropriate parameters and characteristics such as efficacy, lifetime and rendering index for LED … [Read more...] about Energy efficiency standards great for economy, environment: workshop
SPARC Servers for Virtualization, Energy Efficiency
(VEN) - To support continued innovation and reduce organization-wide energy consumption, BMC Software has implemented Oracle's SPARC Enterprise T-series servers with Oracle Solaris in its datacenters and research and development (R&D) department. In particular, Oracle's high-density, low power consumption SPARC T-Series servers help reduce data center costs with massive scalability, on-chip security, and built-in, no-cost virtualization. Besides, Oracle's SPARC Enterprise systems running Oracle Solaris and Oracle VM Server for SPARC, and tightly integrated with Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Applications, deliver highly optimized system performance, efficiency and scalability. Notably, over a three-year period, Oracle's Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 server has saved BMC on average between $20,000 and $35,000 in power costs per server. Oracle's SPARC T3-2 server is expected to nearly double those savings, consuming one-eighth the power and emitting one-eighth … [Read more...] about SPARC Servers for Virtualization, Energy Efficiency
