Businesses commit to building social housing projects for low-income earners
The Vietnamese Government has called on the business community to develop social housing projects and make suggestions to remove difficulties and obstacles in the implementation of projects. About 1.2 million apartments under social housing projects will be built for Vietnamese low-income earners and workers from now to 2023. This is the commitment of local businesses participating in the conference to promote social housing development for low-income earners and workers, which was chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on August 1. The city would continue to explore opportunities to build new social housing projects to meet growing public demand. The Hanoi People’s Committee has instructed investors to complete the planning process for five concentrated social housing projects in a combined area of 273 hectares. The construction site is in the waters of Con Co Island and Gio Linh District in Quang Tri Province. According to the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province, the proposed construction site of this wind power plant project has good wind potential and does not affect national security. The Hoang Quan and Century City real estate projects which sold well thanks to being located near Long Thanh International Airport remain largely unused. The two projects were implemented after Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province got the go-ahead. Hoang Quan Real Estate Company’s Hoang Quan project was the first property project implemented to benefit from Long Thanh International Airport project. The five-hectare project which was built in 2010 has 21 semi-detached houses and 78 villas. Most of the houses have been sold. But a majority remain empty. Many houses left abandoned near Long Thanh International Airport A woman from Long An Province said that her family spent VND5.5 billion to buy a villa in the project in 2012. JICA-funded project helps Da Nang enhance waste classification at source

The event was jointly hosted by the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) of Japan. According to Director of the municipal Department of Natural Resources To Van Hung, the first phase of the project , implemented for five years within JICA ’s Development Partner Programme as part of the bilateral cooperation programme between Da Nang and Japan’s Yokohama city, has proven effective. Constant re-planning of transport projects in Vietnam

In a pattern that seems to have prevailed for years, a transport project is usually put into operation soon after its inauguration, but then within a short time there is a need for its expansion or upgrade. What is more surprising is that even projects that are still under construction are being reconsidered for expansion or an upgrade. Such as in the case of the Hanoi Highway which has been expanded four times and still not complete. It may be that this Highway may even be further expanded. The Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh to Dau Giay Expressway was started in 2009 with an original design plan of four lanes, then soon after increased to six lanes and now being considered for eight lanes. For all we know it may also be extended to twelve lanes soon. The 17 km long metro line 1 has not yet been put into a trial operation but is being considered for an extension to include the route to Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces. Can you give an overview of SANSE, its goals, and past results? Nguyen Trang Linh, head of development at SANSE, founded in 2016 by students at the United Nations International School in Hanoi SANSE’s mission is to promote the sustainable growth of impoverished, geographically challenged, and agriculturally dependent regions in Vietnam; foster an understanding and connection between urban and rural communities; and promote the local educational systems and other learning opportunities as a tool to assist the sustainable growth of rural regions in Vietnam. We’re currently working to achieve these goals in the ethnic Tay village of Ban Lien in Lao Cai by providing infrastructure and education.
