Myanmar issues new guidelines for tourist visa application

Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced new terms and conditions for tourist visa application given a low number of COVID-19 infections in the Southeast Asian country. Myanmar resumed its commercial flight services in April after more than two years of suspension due to the pandemic. Under the new guidelines, tourists are required to provide proof of full vaccinations , a colour photo that was taken within three months and a passport that is valid for six months to their visa application. As per the new terms and conditions, a visa applicant, who has children aged under 7 on the same passport, is required to put the child's name and birth date in the minor section of the application form. Only passport holders are eligible for the visa application, and all applicants should abide by Myanmar's laws and not interfere in the internal affairs of Myanmar, the ministry's statement said. North-Central-South tourism connectivity enhanced

The program will focus on state management of the tourism industry, the development of tourism human resources and tourist products, and tourism promotion. According to a report, seven cities and provinces received a total number of visitors of 17.7 million and earned VND63, 000 billion (US$2.7 billion) in tourism revenue in 2021. In the first six months of this year, the business outcome of tourism activities saw positive signs thanks to tourism reopening policies. The total number of tourists was estimated at around 32.9 million, including one million international visitors while the revenue from tourism was VND87, 900 (US$3.76 billion). Communal house built for Mang ethnic people

Speaking at the event, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee Nguyen Hai Minh called on youths and local people to join the “Footsteps for the community” program to raise fund for the construction of the communal house. He emphasized that participating in the event will not only help raise public health, but also uphold and promote the communal tradition of ethnic minority groups. The sixth stage of the “Footsteps for the community” program will take place from August 6 to 28 in 63 provinces and cities across the country. Spain recognizes Vietnam’s new passport

Vietnamese, who wish to apply for visas, need to bring their new passports and identity cards to verify their place of birth. Spain has recognized that Vietnam's newly issued blue-violet passport includes necessary information required by international regulations, the Spanish Embassy in Hanoi announced on August 8. The notice said the latest move was taken after technical consultation by the Spanish authorities. “However, people who wish to apply for a visa need to bring their new passports and valid identity cards to verify their place of birth,” the Spanish Embassy noted. WB releases report ‘Educate to Grow’ on Vietnamese economic situation

According to the report, despite the challenging global economic environment, the outlook for the Vietnamese economy is still favorable according to the baseline forecast. Due to the impact of the low starting point, GDP is expected to grow by 7.5 percent in 2022 and 6.7 percent in 2023, when growth returns to pre-pandemic levels at 6.5-7 percent. Meanwhile, the average inflation is expected to fall around 3.8 percent in 2022, with the rising trend continuing in the second half of 2022. “The fuel price shock is expected to dissipate in 2023, but the second round of spillover effect continues to happen, and the forecasted GDP growth rate of 6.7 percent for the year will cause CPI to increase to 4 percent in 2023 before dropping to 3.3 percent in 2024,” the report said. Vietnam’s economic growth forecast at 7.5 percent in 2022: World Bank

More than 300 businesses attend ASEAN Online Sale Day 2022
