The made-in-Vietnam African swine fever vaccine will be likely used on a large scale by the end of 2022, according to Nguyen Van Long, acting director of the Department of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Long said that the vaccine was branded NAVET-ASFVAC and is produced by NAVETCO National Veterinary Joint Stock Company. Over 50 farms in ten provinces and cities nationwide have been selected to administer 600,000 doses of vaccine against African swine fever. Outstanding tariff preferences The British Embassy in Vietnam has forecast that Vietnam will save about US$151 million in tariffs from the deal, while the UK stands to save around US$36 million. Although the UKVFTA took effect at a time when the pandemic was ravaging the two countries, bilateral trade still reached US$6.6 billion in the pact’s first year. In fact, 65 percent of all tariffs have already been eliminated from UK-Vietnam trade. In the first six years of the deal, the UK will eliminate 99.2 percent of tariff lines on Vietnam’s imports. This is higher than the terms of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) with 70.3 percent tariff elimination. Accordingly, a new decree, coded 38/2022/ND-CP, on raising the regional minimum wage for labourers will come into effect on July 1. The 6 percent increase is equivalent to a rise of 260,000 VND (11.20 USD) in Region 1, and 240,000 VND, 210,000 VND, and 180,000 VND in Regions 2, 3, and 4, respectively. The document to this effect also specifies that the minimum hourly wage will range from 15,600 to 22,500 VND, which also depends on the region. Huge costs for filling Ha Long largest open-cast coal mine
It would cost about VND 1.20 trillion (USD 52.18 million) to fill the Nui Beo open-cast coal mine pit in Ha Long City after closure. Nui Beo used to be the biggest open cast coal source in Ha Long City with an average annual output of five million tonnes. Ngo The Phiet, director of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company under the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group said that they are planning to fill the mined area. "The two pits are some 125 metres deep in Ha Tu Ward, Ha Long City," he said. "We may need some 30 million cubic metres of soil to fill these two pits." The official estimated that the work would cost VND 1.20 trillion (USD 52.18 million) and last until 2030. HCM City concerns over Covid-19 resurgence
HCM City’s districts with low rates of Covid-19 vaccination would face the risk of resurgent viral infections due to the new Omicron BA.5 sub-variant, according to municipal Department of Health Director Tang Chi Thuong. The Ministry of Health have announced the appearance of the subvariant BA.5 in Vietnam and according to Thuong, the subvariant is more highly infectious and could cause more serious conditions for patients.
