Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday morning met with Aurélia Nguyen, a Vietnamese French, chief program strategy officer at Gavi, a global Vaccine Alliance, to award her Vietnam’s Friendship Medal for her valuable contributions to the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. The medal demonstrates recognition from the Vietnamese Party, state, and people for her efforts in helping Vietnam fight the pandemic. During the meeting at the UN headquarters, which occurred on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Chinh spoke highly of the roles and contributions of the Secretary General and the UN to international peace, stability and security, and to the settlement of hot issues while affirming that Vietnam always supports and is ready to contribute to those efforts. Chinh, who is on a six-day trip to the U.S, had been invited by the world's largest stock exchange, where, welcoming him, NYSE vice president John Tuttle said: "We are willing to help get Vietnamese businesses listed on the NYSE and cooperate in cross-listing on each other's markets." On Thursday evening (Hanoi time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a discussion on "Promoting growth and sustainable development in a volatile global economic environment" with professors and researchers from Harvard, Columbia and Yale universities. He sought their advice on how to promote growth and sustainable development. PM urges Apple to make Vietnam a key supply chain destination
At a meeting with Apple vice president of global policy Nick Ammann on Thursday (U.S. time) in New York, Chinh invited the U.S. tech giant to expand its investment in Vietnam and act as a bridge between the two countries so more American companies will pour their money into Vietnam. He also urged Apple to help Vietnamese companies increase their manufacturing capabilities and to train Vietnamese staff in high technology. Chinh wants Apple to consult the National Innovation Center in building an R&D center with a focus on innovation and digital transformation. Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York City on Thursday morning (local time) and rang the bell to mark the start of the stock trading day. The top Vietnamese official paid his NYSE visit at the invitation of NYSE leaders. NYSE vice chairman John Tuttle and PM Chinh spoke briefly before the Vietnamese Premier rang the opening bell at 9:30 am.
