Dozens killed in attack in northern nigeria

A traffic accident occurred between a light truck and a one-way train in the south-central Vietnamese province of Binh Thuan on Thursday afternoon, with the truck driver dying en route to the hospital. The light truck, driven by 39-year-old Nguyen Thanh Thao, was carrying rice straw when it collided with the SPT 1 train, from Phan Thiet City in province to Ho Chi Minh City, on a concreted road in Ham Thuan Bac District. The truck was tossed during the collision and flipped over. Passers-by took driver Thao to the hospital for emergency treatment, but he died on the way. Tropical storm Chaba, the first storm to affect Vietnam this year, is gathering strength, with wind speeds near its centre reaching 89-102 kilometres per hour. According to the national weather service, the system was located at 400 kilometres east-southeast of China’s Hainan Island at 7am on July 1. Chaba is forecast to travel in a northwest direction for the next 24 hours at a speed of 15 kilometres per hour and is likely to strengthen further, packing winds of 103-117 kilometres per hour. At 7am on July 2, the tropical storm will be located about 370 kilometres east-southeast of Quang Ninh Province, before continuing northwest and to make landfall in the southeast of China’s Guangxi Province the following day. The Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs has recently asked relevent agencies and businesses to provide support for five Vietnamese nationals who were killed and seven others injured by chlorine gas released by a dropped tank at Jordan’s Port of Aqaba on Monday. The Vietnamese victims had been working on the Hong Kong-registered Forest 6 vessel when the chlorine tank fell from a crane onto its deck, said the Vietnamese Embassy in Saudi Arabia concurrently with Jordan on Wednesday. The Department of Overseas Labor has requested companies that have provided seafarers to the ship to urgently supply necessary support to the wounded crew members and the families of the dead in the accident. Two Vietnamese artists, famous in Vietnam, were arrested in Spain last weekend due to an accusation of having raped a 17-year-old British girl, according to reports by British and Spanish newspapers. The two, an actor and a musician aged 37 and 42, appeared in court on Tuesday, according the Majorca Daily Bulletin, a local newspaper of the holiday island of Majorca, where the sex attack was said to have taken place. Serious damage was recorded when a painting shop in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City burst into flames on Friday morning. The fire broke out at the painting shop on Hai Ba Trung Street at around 6:30 am on Friday. A failed attempt to control the blaze by local people led to flames spreading to a house block next door. Chaba, the first tropical storm to hit the East Sea this year, is predicted to gain more strength and cause torrential rain in the northern region between Saturday and Thursday. Localities in affected areas are urgently preparing for the adverse weather conditions. The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting warned that heavy rain will hit the northeast region with rainfall from 40-90mm on Friday night. Rainfall is predicted to be 100-200mm in the northern region and up to 150-300mm in the northeast region on Sunday and Monday. The heavy rain will last until Thursday, the centre said.
