The Consulate General of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday evening hosted the Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Week, which featured a lot of impressive cultural and art performances to enhance bilateral ties. The event, which took place at the Municipal Theater in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, is part of the multiple activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership this year. Thanks to the Party and State’s ethnic policies, over the past years, the living quality of the ethnic groups has been improved. However, the hostile forces always try to divide and destroy the great bloc of national unity and make use of land disputes to cause instability. In order to conduct the ethnic work in the areas, Division 330 has directed its affiliated units to work with the local authorities to grasp local situations. One of the measures that they have taken is gradual mass mobilization work. Therefore, all troops are well aware of the importance of the task. On May 19, in Khanh Thanh commune, Khanh Vinh district, Khanh Hoa province, a program was held to present gifts and hand over a yard’s roof to Hoa Hong Kindergarten. The event was attended by representatives of the Mass Mobilization Board of the Khanh Hoa provincial Party Committee, some military units stationed in the areas, Khanh Hoa provincial Youth Union Organiztion, Young Entrepreneurs Association, and Tan Lap 1 Primary School. Hoa Hong Kindergarten was established in 2007 with six classes and 165 students. The classrooms are good enough for teaching and learning. However, the kindergarten did not have good facilities for children’s outside activities. Therefore, the roof and other gifts were of important significance for both teachers and students of the school. During the visit, Nguyen Hoa Binh and his entourage also learned about some issues in judicial reform in service of amendments to the Law on the Organization of People’s Courts, and the compilation of a law on justice for juveniles. They visited Secretary General of The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) Christophe Bernasconi, Deputy Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) Martin Doe, and Chairwoman of the Council for Child Protection at the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security Mirjam Zeevaart. Bernasconi briefed the delegation on the operation of the HCCH that comprises 91 members, including Vietnam. VN-Index likely to continue fluctuating

If the level is held and liquidity remains positive, the benchmark VN-Index is likely to head towards 1,080 points, said experts. Last week, the market fluctuated despite news of another rate cut by the central bank. The VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) finished the week at 1,063.76 points, while the northern benchmark HNX-Index was at 217.64 points. For the week, the former slightly fell 0.3 per cent but the latter increased by 1.74 per cent. Foreign investors net sold more than VND2.2 trillion (US$93.7 million). Tien Phong Securities Corporation (TPS) said that the VN-Index marked a weekly loss after gaining for two straight weeks. The good news of the interest rate reduction has not yet been able to help the stock market.
