An urban area of Ho Chi Minh City has thrilled residents with a vivid flower festival for the upcoming Tet, or Vietnamese Lunar New Year. Phu My Hung, an upper-class township District 7, has excited locals and visitors by opening its annual flower festival on Monday to celebrate Tet with a richly traditional atmosphere featuring various locations in Vietnam. Themed "Back to the Village," the fest is highlighted by restored miniatures that signify the beauty of Vietnamese homelands from the north to the south of the country, each having identical exhibitions. Thousands of local young people and foreigners flocked to District 7, Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday afternoon for an event featuring the cultures of around 100 countries around the world. Titled "Global Village," the event was centered on Vietnam’s upcoming Lunar New Year and had booths organizing activities that showcased the cultures, specialties, and cuisine of many countries. The Lunar New Year starts on February 19, with festive preparations beginning around one week before the date and the celebratory atmosphere lingering another week after that. A big crowd of people queued at the Vietnamese booth and patiently waited their turn to ask for calligraphy.
