(Photo: VNA) Da Nang (VNA) – The People's Council of Da Nang city has just approved a resolution on the Da Nang city Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 which will be soon submitted to the government for approval. Accordingly, by 2030, the city expects to achieve an average annual economic growth rate of 9.5-10% and a gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita of about 200-220 million VND (8,500 – 9,350 USD) per person. By 2030, the city’s economic development will focus on three pillars, namely tourism, knowledge-based economy, and service centre. Under the master plan, the city also strives to have annual budget revenue increase of 9-11%, and total investment capital for social development by 11-12%. Vietnam posts 3.32 percent GDP growth in Q1, lowest level in 13 years
Vietnam has reported an on-year gross domestic product (GDP) growth of about 3.32 percent in the first quarter of this year, the growth nears the 13-year lowest level, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO). According to a GSO's report released at a press conference on Wednesday morning, the service sector grew 6.79 percent and contributed the lion’s share of 95.91 percent to the overall GDP growth, followed by the agro-forestry-fishery sector which expanded 2.52 percent and contributed 8.85 percent. The expansion is only higher than the 3.21% recorded in Q1 of 2020 during the 2011 - 2023 period, the GSO told a press conference on March 29. In particular, the agro-forestry-fishery sector expanded 2.52% and contributed 8.85% to the GDP growth. Central bank to cut refinance rate in next quarter: UOB
Illustrative photo (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Singapore-based United Overseas Bank (UOB) anticipates the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) will cut its refinance rate in the second quarter this year by 100 basis points to 5.00%. “With the US Fed poised to end its rate hike cycle as soon as May 2023 and that domestic inflation rates are showing some tentative signs of turning, we anticipate that the SBV will cut its refinance rate sometime in the second quarter this year by 100bps to 5.00%,” UOB’s report emphasised. According to the bank's newly-released report on global economic outlook, that could be a one-off move, and more rate cuts may be on tap if domestic price pressures ease off further, although this is highly uncertain for now.
