Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health has asked provinces and cities to strengthen HIV/AIDS control and prevention activities as part of the Central Party Steering Committee’s goal of eliminating HIV/AIDS in the country by 2030. The health ministry asked localities to improve HIV preventive measures, especially distribution of syringes and condoms to high-risk groups like drug addicts and prostitutes. Methadone programmes will be maintained and expanded to treat drug addicts. Communication activities will strengthen the community’s awareness and eliminate stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV/AIDS. To strengthen HIV supervision and detection activities, HIV consultation, test and screening forms will be diversified at medical facilities, community and households. Over 9.5 billion for animal’s disease control in 2013
Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee has just approved a plan of disease control and prevention for animals through out the province in 2013. According to the plan, a herd of 483,600 cattle, over 2.5 million poultry, 357,000 pigs, 16,000 dogs and cats are going to be periodically vaccinated against common diseases of the foot-and-mouth, avian influenza, cholera, blue ear, rabies and pasteurellosis. The Veterinary Branch of Quang Ngai Agriculture and Rural Development Department and the People's Committee of 14 districts and city will take responsibility to implement this plan. An amount of over 9.5 billion VND is approved for the plan. Provincial Malaria Control and Prevention Center deploys its tasks in 2014
Malaria Control and Prevention Center held a conference to summarize the malaria prevention Project in the period of 2009-2013, the provincial malaria prevention work and deploy its tasks in 2014. Funded by the Global Fund, the malaria prevention project was implemented in 5 mountainous districts of Ba To, Son Ha, Tra Bong, Son Tay and Tay Tra with its total capital of over VND 6.3 billion. The project organized many training courses, provided 12,000 chemical mosquito-nets, 1,800 chemical hammocks to the project area people. As reported, the percentage of patients infected with malaria in the mountainous districts decreased 70 -76%, the rate of malaria parasite reduced 79.66%, the rate of people using mosquito-nets reached 83.7%. In 2014, the Global Fund continues to implement malaria prevention activities to reduce the malaria rate to 0.3/1,000 people. FAO ECTAD Viet Nam contributes to the preparedness plan for H7N9 control and prevention
(CPV) - The Emergency Centre of Transboundary Disease Control (ECTAD) FAO was asked to participate and contribute to the Ministerial level meeting on the H7N9 national preparedness plan. The meeting was chaired by Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and engaged senior government officials from Ministry of Health, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Planning and Investigation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These are some of the Ministries that are responsible to support MARD to prevent incursion of H7N9 into Viet Nam, and respond rapidly should the virus enter the country. Vietnam Launches HIV/AIDS Control and Prevention Movement
Vietnam called upon the whole nation to become involved in HIV/AIDS control and prevention activities from now until 2012 on October 6th in Hanoi. The movement, entitled "Every citizen is Involved in HIV/AIDS Control and Prevention Activities in the Community", was launched by the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Central Committee. Minister of Health Nguyen Quoc Trieu said the movement aims to raise public awareness of HIV/AIDS control and prevention while encouraging and creating opportunities for families of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs), intravenous drug users (IDUs) and commercial sex workers to become involved in activities to control and prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS.
