Vietnam’s industrial production to rise 6.6% in 2023: S&P Global

(Photo: VNA) HCM City (VNA) – Vietnam is predicted to record a rise of 6.6% in industrial production in 2023, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence. S&P Global noted the Vietnamese manufacturing sector continued to face challenging business conditions in the opening month of 2023. Production and new orders continued to decline. That said, there were some signs of improvement in demand as new business fell at a softer pace, helped by a renewed expansion in new export orders. The S&P Global Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), released on February 1, posted 47.4 in January, up from 46.4 in December but still pointing to a solid monthly deterioration in the health of the manufacturing sector. Tien Giang plans to exploit over 124,000 tonnes of seafood this year

According to Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Van Man, the tapping of maritime potential will be associated with a series of drastic measures against illegal, unreported and unregulated ( IUU ) fishing. These measures include tight vessel management, strict punishment of related violations, communications activities to raise public awareness on the matter, better investment in fishery infrastructure, and the implementation of policies for improving fishermen’s livelihoods, among others. Maritime economy to be boosted in North-central and Central coastal region
Dong said that the conference aims to launch the Government’s action program to implement the Politburo’s Resolution 26-NQ/TW on the orientations for socio-economic development and security - defense protection of the region to 2030 with a vision to 2045, and attract investment to the region. Dak Lak exports first bananas to China
A company in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak has exported 10 banana containers to China, the first to the neighbouring country so far this year. The VND5 billion (USD212,765) batch of 210 tonnes of bananas were grown by Banana Brothers Farm JS Company (BBF) in Village 1, Ea Yieng Commune, M'Drak Commune. Dak Lak exports 10 banana containers to China on January 31. Le Thi My Hanh, general director of BBF, said that "We’ve been working at full capacity to ensure this first order this year.” BBF started growing around 150 hectares of Cavendish bananas in 2020, using strict technical export standards. The company exported 6,500 tonnes of bananas to South Korea, China and Japan last year.
