The Indonesian badminton athletes were saying goodbye to Vietnamese volunteers in the northern province of Bac Giang when Yeremia allegedly laughed and used "inappropriate language" in a loud voice. Enterprises expect strong growth in lychee exports

Bắc Giang estimates lychee output at about 180,000 tonnes this year, harvesting from May 20 until July 20. — VNA/VNS Photo HÀ NỘI — Enterprises expect the export of lychees this year to increase by about 30 per cent this year. As an enterprise specialising in exporting vegetables and fruit to fastidious markets such as Japan and the EU, Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company (Ameii Vietnam) has strengthened control of exports and is seeking new customers. Now, the company is negotiating with customers and is expected to increase lychee exports by about 30 per cent compared to last year, said Ameii Vietnam general director Ngô Thị Thu Hồng. Notably, this year's lychee exports to fastidious markets such as Japan and the EU are expected to grow. Mekong Delta faces shortage of river sand for major construction projects

In An Giang Province, a project to construct a bypass began in January, with a total investment of over VNĐ2 trillion (US$86 million). However, only 4 per cent of the targeted progress has been reached, due to a lack of river sand. Phan Duy Lai, deputy general director of the Mỹ Thuận Project Management Board, said currently, only 5,000cu.m of river sand is transported to the construction site daily. However, 8,000-10,000cu.m of river sand is needed per day to ensure the planned progress, he said. In Vĩnh Long Province, data from the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment shows that the province is predicted to lack about 5.5 million cu.m of river sand for construction this year. Death toll from floods in northern region rises

A landslide in Lai Chau province (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – As of May 25 morning, flash floods triggered by downpours had claimed five lives, including two in the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang, and one each in Hoa Binh, Dien Bien and Quang Ngai. Meanwhile, four people in Tuyen Quang and one in Dien Bien were injured. Up to 317 houses in Ha Giang, Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Cao Bang, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa provinces were damaged. Meanwhile, in excess of 19,250 ha of crops, 426.6 ha of aquaculture and 6,898 poultry and animals were either inundated or swept away.
