On May 19, in Khanh Thanh commune, Khanh Vinh district, Khanh Hoa province, a program was held to present gifts and hand over a yard’s roof to Hoa Hong Kindergarten. The event was attended by representatives of the Mass Mobilization Board of the Khanh Hoa provincial Party Committee, some military units stationed in the areas, Khanh Hoa provincial Youth Union Organiztion, Young Entrepreneurs Association, and Tan Lap 1 Primary School. Hoa Hong Kindergarten was established in 2007 with six classes and 165 students. The classrooms are good enough for teaching and learning. However, the kindergarten did not have good facilities for children’s outside activities. Therefore, the roof and other gifts were of important significance for both teachers and students of the school. At the SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, established in 1994 with its construction funded by the SOS Children’s Village, Chinh presented gifts to the school and its outstanding students. The school was named after Austrian philanthropist Hermann Gmeiner – the founder of the SOS Children’s Village, which is home to underprivileged children. Naval Service and localities’ delegation visit Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 platform
Passing more than 1,000 nautical miles, the delegation toured and encouraged soldiers and people working and living on islands of the Truong Sa archipelago and DK1/7 Platform. The delegation was briefed on the units’ task performance and presented meaningful gifts to the troops and people in the areas. The delegation also participated in a flag-saluting ceremony in Song Tu Tay (Southwest Cay) Island; offered incense at a memorial house dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh, a martyrs’ monument on Truong Sa (Spratly) Island, to name but a few. Due to harsh weather conditions, the delegation was unable to reach DK-1/7 platform. Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung and delegates inquired after troops on the platform via walkie talkie. Dai Nai Primary and Secondary School were the recipients of 100 scholarships worth $2,130 The Charity Scholarship Award Ceremony was held by VIR in Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces on May 18-19, and was part of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Planning and Investment's (MPI) annual working trip to Ho Chi Minh's hometown.
