At least four people were killed and five others injured following a pile-up involving a car and several motorbikes in Dien Bien Province, northern Vietnam on Monday night. The crash occurred on the section of National Highway No. 279 in Ang To Commune, Muong Ang District at around 10:30 pm, a representative from the provincial traffic safety committee told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper. A car carrying four people first collided with a motorbike carrying two young men. The automobile then tipped over and crushed two other motorbikes carrying three people in total. Four boys killed as truck hits motorbikes
Phan Van Nghe, 39, was driving a pick-up truck along National Highway 279 in Dien Bien Province at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday when he hit a motorbike from the opposite direction in Muong Ang District, killing two 15-year-old boys on the bike. The collision caused the truck to flip over and crush two other motorbikes. Two boys, 17 and 18, on one of the motorbike were rushed to hospital but died later on Tuesday. The remaining motorcyclist is still under treatment at the hospital. Four other people on the truck were injured. 35 hospitalized after eating sweet soup in southern Vietnam
As many as 35 people in An Giang Province, southern Vietnam were hospitalized for treatment for food poisoning after eating sweet white cowpea soup. The sweet soup was offered at no charge by a local resident around the full-moon occasion, or the fifteenth day of the first lunar month (February 5).
