Eight new domestic Covid-19 cases recorded in Hai Duong

All the five cases in Hai Duong are those who had already been put into centralized quarantine zones before being confirmed infected with the coronavirus. They are being treated at the northern province's field hospitals. The five imported cases are those entering Vietnam through Ha Tien international border gate in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang last Thursday and Friday, and were quarantined upon arrival. Sunday test results confirmed they were postivive for the virus. Vietnam declared 16 patients free of Covid-19 on Monday, bringing the number of active cases down to 530. The country has recorded 857 community transmissions in 13 localities since the third wave began on January 28 after a 55-day clean streak. Hai Duong remains the biggest hotspot with 673 cases, followed by Quang Ninh (61) and HCMC (36). Ten of the 13 localities haven’t recorded any new community transmissions in the past 15 days. With the latest cases, the nation’s Covid-19 tally has increased to 2,461 with 1,892 recoveries. …

Vietnam records 13 further new COVID-19 cases, total hits 2,461

Of the total newly detected cases, eight were found in Hai Duong province, the epicentre of the nation’s most recent COVID-19 outbreak and five were imported into Ha Tien international border gate. Each of the infected individuals in Hai Duong are F1 contacts who came into close contact with previously-confirmed COVID-19 patients. Following the detection of the eight additional cases, the number of locally-transmitted cases in Hai Duong reached a total of 673 since the initial detection of the virus in the country last month. Of the total figure, 1,550 were locally-infected cases, including 857 since the virus recurred on January 27. The same day, an additional 16 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital, taking the total recoveries to 1,892. Among the patients currently undergoing treatment, a total of 210 cases have since tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least once, with the majority going on to record negative results either two or three times. Moreover, as many as 63,690 people have been put into quarantine facilities across the nation after coming into close contact with confirmed patients or after returning from pandemic-hit regions. Non-essential services in Hanoi stop to minimize Covid-19 contagion

The Hanoitimes - Bars, parlors, cinemas and stadiums in Hanoi will remain shut to avoid coronavirus transmission through social gatherings. The Hanoi city government on March 25 asked competent agencies to enforce the closure of unnecessary business services in the city in a tougher move to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. Ta Hien Street (Photo: Zing) Non-essential businesses including karaoke bars, parlors, online game stores, cinemas, stadium, and fitness facilities are requested to close while grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations could remain open. Previously, Hanoi’s authorities requested the closure of entertainment services until the end of March but did not state concretely as to what services should be ceased like their peers in Ho Chi Minh City. On March 24, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee suspended all catering and entertainment services including fitness centers, spa, hair salons and restaurants with capacity of more than 30 people in the locality from 18.00 on March 24 to March 31. At least eight people have been infected with the coronavirus due to their connection with a bar named Buddha in the city's District 2. At the meeting with local governments and ministries on March 24, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc ordered the closure of non-essential services across the country to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The decision was made in the context of the growing spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City and the effort of the entire country to contain it. …
