The tourism cooperation programme between HCM City and the Mekong Delta signed last year outlined collaboration in five areas: State management in tourism, development of new products, marketing and promotion activities, training of human resources, and investment in tourism. The cooperation had resulted in the forming of a regional tourism brand for HCM City and the Mekong Delta, said Phan Thị Thắng, deputy chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee. Marketing and communications activities were needed to promote the regional tourism brand and new inter-regional travel products, Thắng said at a meeting held in Đồng Tháp Province last week. As international travel had been disrupted due to the pandemic, she said it was vital to boost domestic travel to make up for some of the shortfall in tourism revenue. HCM City’s Buddhist unit hailed for active engagement in COVID-19 response
HCM City (VNA) - HCM City’s Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee has expressed its appreciation of the southern city’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s active engagement in local COVID-19 response over the last year, Standing Vice Chairman of the committee Nguyen Thanh Trung told a conference on January 26. The conference was held by the Executive Board of the VFF committee to review Buddhist affairs last year and map out orientations for 2021. Trung said the VBS proved itself an important VFF member and became a symbol of national unity. Recognising its achievements in Buddhist affairs in 2020, he also praised the VBS for proactively supporting the city in combating COVID-19 and joining humanitarian, charitable, and social welfare programmes. Transport ministry agrees electric bus operation in Hanoi, HCM City
Under the ministry’s instruction, the people’s committees of Hanoi and HCM City need to ask Vingroup to set out pilot runs, including technical safety and environmental standards. Earlier, Vingroup proposed a plan to open 10 electric bus routes with a total of 150-200 buses in Hanoi and five routes of the same kind in HCM City. In May, VinGroup set up the VinBus subsidiary specialising in transport services.
