PM instructs preparation for upcoming festive season
The Government ordered the State Bank of Vietnam to continue to run a proactive, flexible and prudent monetary policy to create favorable conditions and meet credit demand for manufacturing and business activities; the Ministry of Industry and Trade to focus on instructing and resolving difficulties and entanglements in industrial manufacturing development. Provinces are ordered to have solutions to prepare supply of essential goods for people, especially people in remote and rural areas, border and island regions and areas affected by natural disasters and floods in order to ensure no increase in prices of food and foodstuffs. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is instructed to collaborate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to have solutions to stabilize the price of pork at year’s end, not to let a shortage of pork happen, causing hikes in prices. Garment, textile industry needs to give domestic market appropriate attention
This is the sustainable development direction for garment and textile industry. Made-in-Vietnam garment and textile products not only present in foreign countries but also in Vietnam. The industry needs to escape from the situation of lacking of initiative in raw materials instead of mainly producing yarn and processing products because currently, 60 percent of fiber materials must be imported. PM said that garment and textile industry is one of the industries with highest export turnover and is the most labor-intensive industry in the country with 3 million workers, accounting for a quarter of total labor force of industrial industry. Vietnam’s garment and textile industry has risen to the third largest in export after China and Bangladesh. Vietnam has not mastered and developed production stages such as dyeing, manufacturing high quality fabrics, high-quality materials and accessories. Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent flowers to congratulate the congress. Vu Trong Kim was re-elected as Chairman of the association for the 2019-2024 tenure. He said more than 554,200 former youth volunteers are living across localities.
