Cambodia expects 5.1 percent in economic growth this year
Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia’s Ministry of Economy and Finance has forecast that the country’s economy will expand 5.1 percent this year and 6.2 percent in 2023. The forecast followed the preliminary assessment of the macroeconomic situation of Cambodia by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission in the country, reported Cambodia’s Khmer Times. Regarding the assessment of the economic and financial situation in the country, Alasdair Scott, the IMF’s mission chief for Cambodia said that the growth will be assisted by the socio-economic recovery, despite some risks such as high inflation, ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, a slowdown of the Chinese economy, and faster-than-expected tightening monetary policy in developed countries. Veteran Nguyen Thanh Loc finished first in the men's 50m surface, setting a record of 15.60 sec. Indonesian Wahyu Anggoro Tamtomo was second (15.83 sec) and Thai Khet Chamnanwat third (16.12 sec). Pham Thi Kim Thuong overcame all other rivals in the women's 800m surface with her personal best of 7:19.18 min. Additional 1,179 Covid-19 infections announced on Monday
An additional 1,179 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Monday, raising the national tally to over 10.71 million, according to the Ministry of Health. According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 33 out of 63 localities in the country with some localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (332), Vinh Phuc (75), Quang Tri (72), Yen Bai (60), and Quang Ninh (56). As of Monday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.71 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
