HCM City (VNS/VNA) - A number of universities in the country will launch new majors for the 2021-2022 academic year to meet labour market demand. The amended Education Law gives universities the right to make independent decisions on opening new academic majors. Pham Thai Son, director of the Communications and Enrollment Centre at the HCM City University of Food Industry, said “The university will have six new majors this year, including food business management, fashion and textile business, marketing, thermal engineering and technology, energy management, and analytical chemistry engineering.” “Students in the food business management major will study business administration and food technology,” Son said. Journalists to receive optimal conditions at 13th National Party Congress
Hanoi (VNA) – Preparations for the press centre for the 13th National Party Congress have been basically completed, according to Le Manh Hung, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education. Hung, who is also director of the press centre, and Nguyen Dac Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee and deputy chief of the committee’s Office, inspected the preparations at the centre on January 18. The centre has put forth specific programmes and scenarios to facilitate the operation of reporters, he added, stressing the need for reporters to follow set regulations. A press conference on the organisation of the National Party Congress is scheduled to take place following the inaugural ceremony of the centre on January 22, Hung said. Northern region faces continued cold weather
Hanoi (VNA) - The National Centre for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecast has reported that the temperature in the northern region will continue to decrease deeply over the coming days. Rain and cold air hit the northern region on January 18 with the lowest temperature of 8-10 degrees Celsius and 4-7 degrees Celsius in mountain areas. The lowest temperature was recorded early January 18 in Sa Pa, Lao Cai province, was 7 degrees Celsius and 9.2 degrees in Mau Son, Lang Sơn province, a slight increase from the previous day. Some other mountainous areas also experienced very low temperatures including Pha Din (Dien Bien) with 9.4 degrees Celsius, Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc) 12 degrees and Dong Van (Ha Giang) 7.3 degrees.
