Accordingly, a new decree, coded 38/2022/ND-CP, on raising the regional minimum wage for labourers will come into effect on July 1. The 6 percent increase is equivalent to a rise of 260,000 VND (11.20 USD) in Region 1, and 240,000 VND, 210,000 VND, and 180,000 VND in Regions 2, 3, and 4, respectively. The document to this effect also specifies that the minimum hourly wage will range from 15,600 to 22,500 VND, which also depends on the region. The US side included representatives from the US Embassy in Hanoi and the US Missing in Action (MIA) Office in Hanoi (DET2). The two sets of remains returned to the US side this time were the results of the two countries’ 146th and 147th joint searches from February to June. East Vietnam Sea hit by first tropical storm of 2022
A tropical depression in the East Vietnam Sea developed into a storm on Thursday morning, marking the first tropical storm to hit the Southeast Asian country this year. The storm, named Chaba, was located 400 kilometers east of Vietnam's Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago at 10:00 am on Thursday, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting. The average wind speed was recorded at 62-74km per hour, and gusts were up to 100km an hour. Storm Chaba is expected to travel northwest in the next 48 hours. As of 10:00 am on Saturday, the storm will be situated 120 kilometers northeast of China’s Hainan Island, packing winds at 62-88km per hour. The new figure brought the total number of cases in the country to 10,744,085. All of the new transmissions were domestic. The capital city of Hanoi again topped the country with 188 new cases. Vietnam returns 2 US soldiers’ remains
The Vietnamese Office for Seeking Missing Persons held a handover ceremony in Da Nang City attended by officials from the U.S. embassy and the U.S. office for searching for soldiers missing in action in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. The remains were found following a joint search by the two sides over the last five months. They were examined by Vietnamese and American forensic experts, who concluded they might belong to American soldiers from the Vietnam War (1955 – 1975). The remains will be sent to Hawaii, the U.S., for further examination. Folding bikes allowed on Hanoi’s sky train
Folding bikes are compact and light and do not take up too much space. The management board of Hanoi's Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line, the first in Vietnam, has allowed passengers to take folding bikes on trains, according to Vu Hong Truong, general director of Hanoi Metro Company, operator of the system. The move is aimed at providing commuters with more convenient and easier access to the public transport system because this is the only metro route in Hanoi for now, Truong said, adding that it has yet to be interconnected with other modes of public transportation. “Cat Linh-Ha Dong is the first metro line to be put into operation in Vietnam, thus, improvements still need to be made during the operation of the system.
