A new beachfront park on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, which runs along the coast in Da Nang City, opened to the public this week as part of a larger plan to create more public beachfront spaces in the coastal city. According to the plan, three more beachfront parks are scheduled to open by the end of this year, and the city government is currently working with investors to build a public path to the Ngu Hanh Son coastal area. Public support for new parks For decades, Nguyen Van Tuan, 57, has spent his mornings cycling on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street and swimming at local beaches. As a longtime resident, the new park, named Ha Khe Park, is a very welcome treat. “In the past, the area was full of garbage and weeds. Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai hosted a reception for Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry on August 11. Hanoi university student crowned first Miss World Vietnam

A 19-year-old college student from the northeastern province of Cao Bang was crowned the new Miss World Vietnam 2019 after beating out 39 beauty contestants in the pageant finale on Saturday night, becoming the first Vietnamese woman to clinch such a title. Luong Thuy Linh, born in 2000 in Cao Bang, was declared Miss World Vietnam in the finale in the central city of Da Nang, a victory allowing her to represent Vietnam at the oldest-running global beauty contest Miss World in the UK this December. Two other young women, Nguyen Ha Kieu Loan and Nguyen Tuong San, claimed the first and second runner-up titles and will represent Vietnam in Miss Grand 2019 in Venezuela and Miss Intercontinental 2019 in India later this year, respectively. HCMC records a rising number of new pediatric Covid-19 cases In recent weeks, the number of Covid-19 cases in the southern metropolis has tended to increase rapidly, with an average of 144 new cases per day. Currently, the city is treating 44 cases of Covid-19 with mild and moderate symptoms including 11 children. Health experts predicted that the number of children infected with Covid-19 will continue to increase, and the best way to protect children now is to vaccinate them against the disease. South Korean singer Joseph Kwon on Wednesday released his latest music video – an ode to popular tourist attractions across Vietnam in commemoration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea. Foreign tourists upbeat as minister seeks visa waiver expansion
Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, had proposed earlier this week that Vietnam expands visa exemption for tourists from Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Europe, and the U.S. to boost tourism recovery after more than two years of pandemic restrictions. Michael Burger from the U.S., who visited Vietnam in May, said the proposal was definitely a positive step toward making travel to Vietnam easier. "As a regular visitor to Vietnam, I feel delighted to hear this news," Burger told VnExpress International.
