Tropical depression causes heavy rains, flooding in central Vietnam
Impacts from the depression have led to downpours with rainfall measuring 197 mm in Da Nang, 171 mm in Hoi An of Quang Nam, and 283 mm in Thua Thien Hue's Huong Phu District from midnight to 1 p.m. on Monday, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. The north-central and mid-central regions received an average rainfall of 50-80 mm during the period. Many streets in Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam were flooded by 0-.3 - 0.7 meters as a result, paralyzing traffic. 6 Vietnamese schools make Times Higher Education World University Rankings
The six are Duy Tan University in Da Nang, Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University in Hanoi, Vietnam National University in HCMC, and Hue University. Duy Tan and Ton Duc Thang are ranked highest, but have slid from 401-500 last year to 601-800. The Vietnam National University in Hanoi has also dropped, from 1,001-1,200 to 1,201-1,500. The other three schools remain in the group of 1,501+. This year there are 1,904 universities in 108 countries and regions in the rankings, which are based on 18 indicators that measure an institution's performance across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. Number of foreign tourists to Vietnam nears 9 million in nine months

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Around 8.9 million foreign tourists travelled to Vietnam in the first nine months of this year, a 4.7-fold increase compared to the figure of the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO). However, the figure was equal to 69% of the number in the same period of 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. In September alone, the country welcomed more than 1 million foreign visitors, down 13.4% month-on-month. In the January-September period, 87.5% of foreign tourists chose to travel to Vietnam by air, 11.8% by road, and the remainders by sea. Revenue from accommodation and catering services in this period rose by 16%, and earnings from travel and tourism services surged by 47.7% year-on-year.
