At around 2:30 a.m. the Thanh Buoi company bus was traveling on Highway 20 carrying passengers from Ho Chi Minh City to Lam Dong Province when the accident occurred. Police in Dinh Quan District of Dong Nai said the sleeper bus driven by Hoang Van Tinh, 37, had strayed into the wrong lane and onto oncoming traffic after it had "unsafely" driven past a pickup truck, hitting the truck's head. A representative from the Department of Roads under the Transport Ministry said the sleeper bus was running at 69 kph right before the crash, while the permitted speed on the road section is 50 kph max. The van's driver, Nguyen Van Canh, 34, and three passengers in the van died. Its other five passengers were rushed to hospital, two with severe injuries. Vietnam a popular destination for Koreans on Chuseok holiday: survey
According to a recent survey conducted by the Incheon International Airport Corporation from August 7 to August 24 regarding passenger opinions, Vietnam is chosen by 14.5% of the respondents, ranking second on the list of most favored international travel destinations for Chuseok. Japan topped the list with a rate of 28.2%. Vietnam also placed second among preferred travel destinations for those aged 20 and 30 (13.8% of respondents) and those aged 40 and 50 (12.8% of respondents). This year, for the first time, the South Korean government designated October 2 as a one-off temporary holiday, extending the length of the Chuseok holiday to six days. If employees use their annual leave, they can enjoy a free-from-work period of up to 12 days.
