Travel promotion “Rediscover Vietnam” held in Australia
Rediscover Vietnam” is co-held by Thien Minh Group and national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines for travel promotion in Australia. (Photo: VNA) Called “Rediscover Vietnam”, the event was co-held by Thien Minh Group and national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, with more than 80 travel firms and tour operators across Australia in attendance. It was the last of a series of travel promotion events held in multiple countries, including the UK, Germany, France, the US, Japan and the Republic of Korea. Thanh said the number of Australian arrivals in Vietnam and vice versa hit a record high of 600,000 in 2019 before the Covid-19 broke out globally. (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – A conference reviewing cooperation between Vietnamese ministries, localities and Guangdong province of China was held in virtual form on June 29 under the chair of Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu and Guangdong’s Vice Governor Wang Xi. Opening the conference, the eighth of its kind, Deputy FM Hieu expressed joy at the positive developments in the Vietnam-China relationship in general and between Vietnamese ministries, localities and Guangdong in particular. Guangdong has the biggest trade revenue with Vietnam among Chinese localities , with bilateral trade up 16.2 percent in 2021 to 47.42 billion USD, accounting for more than one quarter of Vietnam-China trade value. Foreign tourist arrivals to Vietnam up 6.8 percent in first six months
More than 600,000 foreign tourists travelled to Vietnam in the first six months of this year, presenting a 6.8 percent year-on-year increase. In June alone, the number of international visitors was 236,700 thanks to the resumption of international flights. Of the total, the number of visitors arriving by air reached 523,900, accounting for 87 percent and up 9.4 percent compared to the same period last year; by road was 78,000, accounting for 13 percent. Revenue from accommodation and catering services in June saw a 20.9 percent increase compared to the previous year. Some localities got revenue growth, such as Can Tho increased 52.1 percent, Hanoi up 44.4 percent, Dong Nai up 22.6 percent, Quang Ninh up 19.2 percent, HCMC up 17.2 percent, Hai Phong up 12.6 percent, Binh Duong up 11.4 percent and Da Nang up 11.2 percent. Talking to the press, he said there are three main areas for such cooperation, namely digitization, simplification of rules and procedures to strengthen the business environment; supporting equality, gender equality and equality for minority groups; and legislation and regulation around the green economy. The delta is undergoing infrastructure changes, including being able to welcome larger ship capacities At the conference over a week ago on announcing the delta’s master plan and investment promotion in the 2021-2030 period in in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam Elsbeth Akkerman highlighted the role of the private sector. “In order to develop the Mekong Delta to become liveable land for all, we should put the private sector at the forefront for further innovation,” said the ambassador. The ambassador would like to continue working with the government, private sector, scientists, and non-governmental organisations in Vietnam to successfully implement the integrated master plan to help people, the economy, society, and nature in the Mekong Delta region flourish.
