At a press meeting in Binh Dinh on August 11, Pham Kim Dung, head of the beauty pageant’s organising board, said the Miss World 2021 will also join charitable activities in Quy Nhon. Karolina Bielawska said this is the first time she has set foot in Vietnam, and that she can feel the warm welcome for her from all people. Hanoi university student crowned first Miss World Vietnam

A 19-year-old college student from the northeastern province of Cao Bang was crowned the new Miss World Vietnam 2019 after beating out 39 beauty contestants in the pageant finale on Saturday night, becoming the first Vietnamese woman to clinch such a title. Luong Thuy Linh, born in 2000 in Cao Bang, was declared Miss World Vietnam in the finale in the central city of Da Nang, a victory allowing her to represent Vietnam at the oldest-running global beauty contest Miss World in the UK this December. Two other young women, Nguyen Ha Kieu Loan and Nguyen Tuong San, claimed the first and second runner-up titles and will represent Vietnam in Miss Grand 2019 in Venezuela and Miss Intercontinental 2019 in India later this year, respectively. Elephants enjoy a "buffet" of fruit and vegetables marked its World Elephant Day. World Elephant Day, observed on August 12, was created with the main objective of preserving and protecting this animal and seeking solutions to the problem of human-elephant conflict. A project on elephant preservation in Dak Lak, Dong Nai and Nghe An was approved by the Government in 2006. Recently, in Decision No. 413/QD-TTg dated March 31, 2022, the Prime Minister agreed with the project’s adjustment. Under the decision, the elephant conservation plan will be implemented until the end of 2025. Transport ministry clamps down on taxi drivers overcharging at Tân Sơn Nhất Airport
The Ministry of Transport has announced a plan to strengthen inspection and crack down on taxi drivers' illegal practices, such as enticing passengers, overcharging or refusing to take passengers at the country's busiest airport, Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in HCM City. Influenza A outbreak causes vaccine shortage in Hanoi
Hanoi is facing an influenza A vaccine shortage. Between January and April, the city saw some 400 Influenza A patients per month. The figure increased to 556 cases in May and 887 cases in June. According to the Vietnam National Children's Hospital, over the past month, between 200-300 children came for Influenza A vaccination a day. An inoculation centre in Nam Tu Lien District reported that many people are going to the facility for the Influenza A vaccine, but it has run out of it. Some Hanoi communal medical stations have also ran out of the vaccine. People have to register and pay for this service, but supply is limited with rising demand. The same situation has even been reported at at many of Hanoi's big vaccination centres, including the one operated by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology at Lo Duc Street and the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control’s centre on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street.
