The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under the United States Department of Justice is hunting for Minh Quoc Nguyen, a Vietnamese national, for his alleged involvement in the laundering of US$3 billion worth of Bitcoin. Minh Quoc Nguyen is wanted for his alleged direct involvement in stealing identities and engaging in money laundering activity in furtherance of obfuscating and facilitating the functionality of the ChipMixer service, the FBI said on its website. Through the conduct, he allegedly facilitated the laundering of $3 billion worth of Bitcoin. The U.S. Department of Justice also confirmed the charges against Minh Quoc Nguyen, accusing him of flouting financial regulations. Vietnamese authorities are in the process of verifying and investigating the case of Minh Quoc Nguyen, a Vietnamese national wanted by the FBI for his alleged involvement in a US$3 billion money laundering scheme. Crypto founder Do Kwon is indicted in US following Montenegro arrest
An eight-count indictment against Kwon was made public in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, several hours after news of his arrest earlier Thursday in Montenegro. Lawyers for Kwon in the United States did not immediately respond to requests for comment after business hours. Thursday's indictment charges Kwon, a South Korean national who co-founded Terraform Labs and developed the TerraUSD and Luna currencies, with two counts each of securities fraud, wire fraud, commodities fraud and conspiracy. The criminal case follows related U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission civil charges against Kwon and Terraform last month. Kwon had been a fugitive for several months, and South Korean authorities issued an arrest warrant for him last September.
