Illustrative image (Source: internet) Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce has reported that the country’s exports of fruits and vegetable to China surged 31 percent in the January-May period to 1.2 billion USD. Export revenue of fruit rose 123 percent to 838.61 million USD. Of the figure, earnings from durian accounted for 48.5 percent, followed by longan, mangosteen and coconut. However, export revenue of vegetable in the period was only 361 million USD, a drop of 33 percent year on year. Cassava was the major currency earner of the country which made up 96 percent of the total exports of farm produce to China, followed by beans and dried vegetable. Vietnam defeated hosts Philippines 2-0 on Thursday night to advance to the final in women’s football, where they will clash with archrivals Thailand, at the ongoing 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. The defending champions dominated the game from kick-off, but only managed to score goals in the second half. In the fourth minute, Vietnamese midfielder Nguyen Thi Binh Thuy penetrated the penalty area and aimed for the far corner, only to miss the post. Shortly after the match at Binan stadium in the Philippines began, Thailand scored two continuous goals at the fifth and 11th minutes. However, at the 15th minute, Nguyen Tien Linh of Vietnam broke through three Thai defenders in the box to head the ball in from a cross in the left wing. In the second half, Vietnam were awarded a penalty kick after Linh had been fouled inside the area. Vietnam held Thailand to a 2-2 draw in their last group-stage game to secure a semifinal berth as Group B’s leaders in men’s football at the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the Philippines on Thursday afternoon. The Vietnamese staged a comeback at the Binan Football Stadium, about 100km from the Filipino capital of Manila, where striker Nguyen Tien Linh scored twice to correct goalkeeper Nguyen Van Toan’s blunder. The young Golden Dragons conceded an early goal only five minutes into the game as the ball hit Thai striker Supachai from a careless goal kick by Van Toan and bounced back into the Vietnamese net.
