Vietnam reported an additional 14,314 Covid-19 infections in 61 out of 63 cities and provinces on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Health. According to the ministry's report, 14,312 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 61 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,491), Can Tho (1,132), Tay Ninh (792), Soc Trang (775), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (710), Dong Thap (690), Binh Thuan (648), Ben Tre (630), Binh Phuoc (547), Vinh Long (544), Khanh Hoa (465), Ca Mau (444), Binh Dinh (428), Hanoi (400), Bac Lieu (398), Kien Giang (394), Dong Nai (355), Binh Duong (355), An Giang (350), Thua Thien Hue (305), Hau Giang (295), Tien Giang (257), and Tra Vinh (212). The new infections, including nine imported ones, raised the total number in the country since the start of the pandemic to 1,280,780. Ho Chi Minh City reported the highest number of infections with 1,311, followed by Can Tho with 982, and Hanoi with 791. Thua Thien – Hue province on the day registered an additional 822 cases in the national data system after verifying information from previous days. The ministry also announced 200 fatalities, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in Vietnam to 25,858. The directive asks aviation service providers to seriously implement the tests as prescribed by the Ministry of Health. When cases are detected, the units must report to the medical authorities and local administrations. Carries are also asked to boost their checks and supervision of passengers coming from or transiting through African countries or those having the Omicron variant, while airport authorities must report those cases entering Vietnam so that they will be reported to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transport. Vietnamese famers have average income of 3.4 million VND/month The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that the average income for farmers in 2020 was 43 million VND/year, which is equivalent to under 3.4 million VND/month. In the Draft Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development for the 2021-2030 period (with a vision towards 2050), the Ministry set the goal of raising farmers’ average income and reducing poverty in a sustainable manner. By 2030, the rural population’s income would have to be 3 times higher than in 2020, and poverty rate would fall by 1-1.5 %. A leader of a province that administers Vietnam’s ‘tourism haven’ Phu Quoc has denied a rumor that the Omicron variant of the coronovirus has made it to the island. Phu Quoc has recorded zero Omicron infections so far, Nguyen Luu Trung, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee of Kien Giang Province, which manages the island, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, referring to the B.1.1.529 variant of SARS-CoV-2.
