Incentives are being offered to allure new businesses into Danang Hi-Tech Park On June 17, Danang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones Management Authority (DHPIZA) approved the planning for the $60 million Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) factory, to be funded by Vector Fabrication Inc. from the United States. Covering an area of 40,000 square metres, the factory will produce printed circuit boards while simultaneously studying and producing MEMS. Construction is expected to start this year and the factory’s first phase will come into operation in early 2025. Hundreds of Citi volunteers joined a tree-planting campaign at Nam Cat Tien National Park in Dong Nai province and Phu Ninh Primary School in Phu Tho province, with more than 1,500 trees planted in total. Ho Chi Minh City racks up $344,200 loss from on-street car parking fee collection
Voluntary Youth Public Benefit Service Co. Ltd., which is tasked with collecting fees for on-street car parking in Ho Chi Minh City, recently announced that its fee collection arm reported a VND8 billion (US$344,200) loss in 2021. A financial statement by the company showed that its revenue from the fee collection was more than VND2 billion ($85,900) last year, a figure which pales in comparison to the firm’s VND10 billion ($429,400) in fee collection costs, including staff salaries and software rentals. The company announced it would use revenues from other business activities to compensate for the loss. HCM City’s students to access AI teaching next academic year

Deputy head of the department Nguyen Bao Quoc said that the sector is building a system to manage education, and organise teaching, learning and intelligence assessment in order to carry out the city’s smart education and lifelong learning project in the 2021-2030 period. A VND4.5-trillion (US$193.6 million) industrial park is set to be built later this year in the northern Vietnamese city of Hai Phong. The Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority (HEZA) organized a ceremony on Wednesday afternoon to grant an investment registration certificate for the construction of Tien Thanh Industrial Park in Tien Lang District. Construction of the new industrial park, expected to cost more than VND4.5 trillion, will begin later this year on an area of 410.46 hectares. The industrial park is expected to be put into operation before 2025. Speaking at the certificate handover ceremony, HEZA head Le Trung Kien stressed its determination in ensuring the project’s progress by creating favorable conditions for the developer. JICA urges funding for operator of Ho Chi Minh City’s first metro line
The Vietnam Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has asked the Vietnamese government to consider promptly giving funds to Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railways No. 1 Company Limited (HURC 1), which is at risk of halting operation. In his recent letter to Tran Van Son, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office, Shimizu Akira, Chief Representative of the JICA Vietnam Office, mentioned some issues related to the city’s Metro Line No. 1, including the urgent need of providing a budget to HURC 1 so that it can maintain operations. HURC 1, the operator of the city’s first metro project, is facing a big problem as its initial charter capital has been used up to pay for operating expenses in the past time and is now facing the risk of suspension due to lack of funds, the JICA said. A Japanese city has been left with more than a headache after admitting a contractor lost a USB containing personal data on all 460,000 residents during a night out. The western city of Amagasaki said Thursday that a private contractor, whose name has not been disclosed, was carrying the memory stick during drinks after work. But the individual, who was working on a municipal pandemic relief programme, lost the bag containing the USB on Tuesday evening. "We deeply regret that we have profoundly harmed the public's trust in the administration of the city," an Amagasaki official told a press conference. The State-owned company, the operator of the Bến Thành – Suối Tiên metro line that will be put into commercial operation late next year, was established in 2015. Under a project establishing the company, it is allocated a budget to ensure its operation in the period it has no revenue because the metro line is yet to be commercially operated.
