MPI and GIZ hold workshop on SDGs
Le Viet Anh, director general of the MPI's Department of Science, Education, Natural Resources and Environment In attendance at the Voluntary National Review (VNR) workshop were delegates from ministries and state agencies; the business and media sectors; and national and international organisations. The 2030 Agenda was adopted by United Nations member states in September 2015 with a focus on the 17 SDGs. The VNR is a mechanism to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the agenda on a global scale. VNRs are presented annually to the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) of the United Nations. Vietnam first presented a VNR in 2018, and will present a second, along with 41 other countries, later this year. HCM City launches first one-stop model for women, children
Instead of having to go to many places to seek support, women and children who are victims of violence just need to go to a one-stop model for women and children located at Hung Vuong Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for medical care, and psychological and legal counselling. The high-tech method aims to contribute to ensuring social order and security, reduce time for check-in procedures, and increase accuracy. Facial recognition technology can also improve the prevention and detection of passengers using fake documents, and detect those who are banned from flying or wanted criminals that cross borders. Recently, the authority hosted a meeting to discuss issues related to legal regulations on applying the technology. Durian prices sharply fall
Southern durian prices have sharply halved compared to last month. Durian farmers in Tien Giang Province Many farmers in Tien Giang, Long An, Binh Phuoc, and Dong Nai have seen the prices plummet to between VND75,000-85,000 per kilo, down by 15-20 percent compared to last week and by 50 percent against last month's prices. A farmer in Long An, Nguyen Trung, said that he has just sold eight tonnes of durian at between VND70,000-80,000 per kilo depending on the sizes. "I decided to sell them all, fearing that the prices may continue to fall," she said. Data from the Vietnam Insurance Association reveals that non-life insurance and health insurance comprised the largest proportion of the insurance industry's premium revenue last year, accounting for approximately 33.2%, with revenue of 22.41 trillion VND. This represented a 24.3% increase from the same period in 2021. In the meantime, vehicle insurance generated a revenue of 18.1 trillion VND, comprising 26.8% of the overall market revenue and witnessing an 11.9% growth rate over the same period in 2021. Vietnam gathers opinions on building voluntary national review on SDGs

Vietnam conducted the VNR, a mechanism through which countries assess and present national progress made in implementing the 2030 Agenda, for the first time in 2018. In this second time in 2023, Vietnam will submit the report together with 41 other countries.
