Viet Nam News Hà Nội - Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) held an award ceremony on Sunday in Hà Nội for the sixth Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, one of the biggest national art competitions for children. Prizes included 15 first prizes, 15 second prizes, 38 third prizes and 100 consolation prizes. Also, among 168 winning artworks, the jury board also selected nine artworks to participate in the world contest in Japan. The winners (together with their guardians) will be invited to Japan to attend the Award Ceremony in August 2017. In its sixth year, the contest was launched in primary schools nationwide and TMV dealers in January. From January10 to March 10, the contest received a total of 544,200 entries. Radio-controlled car nuts gather weekly (06-09-2005) HCM CITY — Duong Duc Thang, 28, used to be a miniature aeroplane and canoe collector before turning his attentions to miniature car racing six years ago. Thang is one of hundreds of miniature car racers in HCM City who gather at Hoc Mon District's miniature car racetrack to engage in their passion and swap stories every Sunday. Since it appeared in Viet Nam in the 1960s, the hobby has attracted many miniature car-racing fans in the city. "HCM City now has more than 300 racers and six miniature car racing clubs, including TY 1, Nguyen Toy, Le Minh Xuan and Thanh Long clubs," said Hoai Phi, 29, the founder of TY 1 Club. Hung Yen student wins maths prize (08-08-2006) HUNG YEN — Hoang Manh Hung biked every day for 20km to attend a junior high school for gifted children in Khoai Chau District in Hung Yen Province - even when it was raining and cold. "I didn't want to miss any lessons," he recalls. His persistence paid off. Last month the 18-year-old won the gold medal at the 47th International Mathematical Olympiad in Slovenia. Nearly 20 years ago, Hung's family faced a dark period when his father, Van Phan, was fired and had to return empty-handed to his Tu Ho Village in Yen Phu District in Hung Yen Province, southeast of Ha Noi. Because his father's subsequent jobs never provided enough income, the family borrowed money to set up a farm. HA NOI — Primary school students nationwide have the opportunity to share their ideas for traffic safety with contributions to Dream Car, the first Toyota Traffic Safety Drawing Contest sponsored by Toyota Motors Viet Nam (TMV). The activity, which is being co-sponsored by the Department of Primary Education, falls under the Traffic Safety Education Programme (TSEP) which has been implemented annually since the 2005-06 school year. The contest aimed to create a new playground and opportunities for students from grades one to five to show off their passion for drawing and share their creative ideas for dream cars that would offer advanced features to benefit humans now and in the future, said organisers.
