National population database, citizen ID card management system make debut

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attends the launch of the national database on population (Photo: VNA) Hanoi 25 (VNA) - The national database on population, and a citizen ID card issuance and management system made debut on February 25 in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. These two systems, developed and implemented by the Ministry of Public Security, reflect the Government’s determination to shift from paper-based to electronic document management. The national database on population is the most important among the six national databases to help form an e-Government, a digital society and digital economy. Meanwhile, the project on citizen ID card production, issuance and management was approved by the Government last September. The Ministry of Public Security expects to issue chip-based ID cards for 50 million citizens by July 1 this year. Under the Law on Citizen Identification in 2014, people from 14 years of age can obtain an ID card, which is then renewed when they turn 25, 40, and 60 years of age. More than 29,000 citizens have obtained new ID cards to date, including 1,369 delegates to the 13th National Party Congress. He also appreciated the active participation of ministries, sectors and localities, contractors and IT companies to complete the databases. Destinations across country see sharp fall in number of tourists on Tet holidays

Da Nang City received more than 30,000 visitors, mainly domestic tourists, on the lunar New Year from February 10-16, just reaching 40 percent compared to last year. Meanwhile the Dong Loc T-junction historical site in Ha Tinh Province’s Can Loc District welcomed about 6,000-7,000 people since the first day of the first lunar month, accounting for 60 percent of the number in the previous year. According to Head of the Management Board of the Huong Tich Pagoda in the province, Nguyen Duy Vy said that the national historic site saw a sharp drop in tourist arrivals and greeted around 7,000 pilgrims. In addition, Huong Tich pagoda festival which is annually organized from the early first lunar month has been canceled to prevent the spread of the pandemic. Huong Tich Pagoda was built during the Tran Dynasty in the 13th century at 1,000 meters above sea level. The pagoda was heavily damaged by fire in 1885 and was rebuilt in 1901. The pagoda was recognized as national historical and cultural relics in 1990. Similarly, attractions in the flower city of Da Lat in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong which were traditionally crowded with tourists saw very low number of visitors in these days. The room capacity is below 30 percent. According to the Tourist Supporting Center of Vung Tau City in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, more than 100,000 visitors came to the city in seven days on Tet, presenting a decrease of 72 percent compared to the last period. While the Cam Mountain Tourist Area in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang received about 40,000-50,000 travelers, down 50 percent compared to the same period last year. Most of workers in Northern region resume to work

According to Chairman of Industrial Zones’ Trade Union in Bac Giang Province Mr. Ngo Duc Thang, about 90 percent to 95 percent of workers in the industrial zones resumed to work as ordinary in the first days after Tet holiday. The Industrial Zones Trade Union of Vinh Phuc Province reported that the production activities of factories have been stable with more than 92 percent of returners. Enterprises, factories along with their employees are strictly implementing the requirement of 5K (face mask, disinfection, distance, no gathering and health declaration) of the Ministry of Health on the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control. Around 255 workers are absent from their working places because they came from the Covid-19 affected areas of Hai Duong, Hung Yen and Dien Bien and have been isolated according to the regulations. As for Thai Nguyen Province, about 95 percent of workers came back to factories and industrial parks from February 19.  For domestic enterprises, there were approximately 100 percent of returners to work. The most of workers at large-scale firms such as Samsung Vietnam- Thai Nguyen, Glonics Vietnam resumed to work. In the pandemic-hit province of Hai Duong under regulation implementation of social distancing, the Provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 pandemic prevention and Control and the Management Board of industrial zones of Hai Duong Province directed enterprises to use maximum means of transport to hop on and hop off workers to their working places, minimize personal vehicles, adjust the working hours of the production lines to reduce the number of workers on shifts, after shifts. Additionally, the Management Board of industrial zones of Hai Duong Province regularly updated and promptly provided a list of re-operated enterprises in industrial zones after Tet to the Hai Duong Police to monitor and respond to the risk of spreading Covid-19 pandemic.
