Miss World Vietnam 2021 starts receiving candidates’ profiles

The regional primary rounds are expected to start in April while the final round will take place in October and November. Miss World Vietnam beauty contest was held for the first time in 2019, aiming at looking for a Vietnamese representative at the Miss World beauty pageant. Women aged 18 to 27 who are at least 1.65m tall and have had no cosmetic surgery are eligible to enter the contest. Participation is limited to unmarried women who have never given birth or parented a child. Beside the top three places of the winner, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up, the organization board will also present minor titles of the Beauty with a Purpose, Miss Sea, Miss Fashion, Miss Talent, Miss Communications and Miss Sport. Luong Thuy Linh from the northern province of Cao Bang was announced as the winner of the 2019 Miss World Vietnam pageant. The first and second runners-up went to Nguyen Ha Kieu Loan of Quang Ninh province and Nguyen Tuong San of Hanoi. Luong Thuy Linh represented Vietnam in Miss World 2019 that took place in London, the United Kingdom, in last December and was in the top 12 at the contest. The first and second runners-up, Nguyen Ha Kieu Loan and Nguyen Tuong San competed in Miss Grand International 2019 in Venezuela and Miss Intercontinental 2019 in Indian respectively. Loan was in the top 10 at the pageant while San won the “Best National Costume” title. PM Phuc calls on combined strength for stronger national development

These remarks were made by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at an event known as “Dialogue 2045” with various business representatives and intellectuals at the Thong Nhat Conference Hall in Ho Chi Minh City on March 6, featuring the participation of many senior leaders. The Government leader reviewed the achievements following nearly 35 years of pursuing the renewal process under the leadership of the Community Party of Vietnam (CPV), with the national economy enjoying positive growth. The lives of local people have been greatly improved, with the life expectancy increasing compared with advanced countries such as Japan and Singapore, with greater attention being given to a range of social and cultural issues. PM Phuc therefore highlighted the contributions made by the local the business community to the nation over the past 35 years of Doi Moi (Renewal), expressing hope that firms can learn new ideas to transform the nation into a developed and high-income country. The nation must be home to business giants capable of competing both regionally and globally by unlocking the potential and making use of the strengths of citizens living and working inside and outside of the country, he emphasized. The nation must also strive to lure and promote external resources in terms of technology, knowledge, and innovation, along with building a brighter future. Dialogue 2045 was held as part of efforts to chart a course of actions to translate the development goals through to 2045. In line with the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress, the country expects to move out of its low middle-income status by 2025. Vietnamese director becomes judge at Pune International Film Festival

Dung will be one of the five prestigious international judges elected by the Film Festival Council and will be part of the process to select the candidates for most prestigious award in the World Competition Selection category. From March 6, the jury made up of five members, including Luong Dinh Dung, will start to watch 14 films that have made it to the final round in order to choose the best film in the international category. This comes after Dung was invited to be an advisor for the Tallinn Black Nights International Film Festival, one of the world’s 15 largest international film festivals. Luong Dinh Dung is the director of the film "Father with a baby", which had previously been selected as the Vietnamese film representative to attend the 90th Oscars, in addition to winning many domestic and international awards. PIFF is an annual film festival which has been held in the Indian city of Pune since 2002. Each year, the festival receives roughly 2000 entries from hundreds of countries worldwide.
