Two men arrested after robbing gold shop, shooting cop
At around 8 p.m. Nguyen Van Doanh and Luong Van Dat came on a motorbike without a license plate to Duc Nam jewelry shop in Dong Cam Commune, Kim Thanh District of the northern province. They entered carrying a gun and a pepper spray. The owner's family was inside the house at the back. One of the robbers used a hammer to smash the glass cabinets, took out jewels and gold bars and put them in a backpack, while the other brandished the gun at the owner's family. The owner's son, Nguyen Dang Ninh, also the commune police chief, ran towards them seconds later and tried to disarm the robber, but was shot in the arm and stomach. The robbers fled with the loot, but were arrested while hiding around 20 km from the shop. Ninh is being treated in a hospital in Hai Phong City. His conditions have not been revealed.
