Bùi Tú Uyên, Lương Anh Khánh Huyền and Trần Quỳnh Anh brought home US$100,000 from the Earth Prize competition, an initiative of the Switzerland-based Earth Foundation that encourages students to address environmental issues. Founded 50 years ago, it is a peaceful place in downtown Hà Nội where animal lovers can pay their last respects to their beloved pets. Nguyễn Bảo Sinh, 84, owner of the pet cemetery, believes that pets have the right to be treated like humans. He said that it was one of the main reasons he built the pet cemetery. “I think pets have equal rights as human beings, and they should be treated and loved just like humans,” he said. “Buddhism teaches us to have love and kindness to all, including animals and plants. That is the compassion in Buddha’s teaching. My pagoda is built based on the principle of compassion in Buddhism." Microplastics can go directly into the lungs during daily activities. A group of biologists and researchers from the University of Science and Education under Đà Nẵng University has reported their independent survey and research on microplastic pollution in the central hub, the first of its kind in central Việt Nam. Common types of microplastics in the air that had been collected in a four-month survey in six districts of Đà Nẵng City between 2021-22 were only observed by microscope with sizes from 850 to 900 micrometres. Under a pilot scheme from May 15, they can access http://dichvucong.gov.vn or http://dichvucong.bocongan.gov.vn to make an online declaration, pay the fee and receive their passports by post, or collect them at the immigration offices, according to the Việt Nam Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security. The scheme applies to those residing in the country having a valid chip-based identity card or a valid 12-digit citizen ID card, a valid account on the Government Public Service Portal, and the ability to pay online fees.
