Speaking at a press conference on June 7, head of Bakamla, Vice Admiral Aan Kurnia said that the forum aims to establish cooperation to maintain security and stability in ASEAN. He noted that it also encourages information sharing, coordination, and joint training among its member countries. The forum also aims to build trust among coast guards in Southeast Asia. The visit was in the program themed “10th Trust and Aspiration for the Fatherland -  Overseas Vietnam (OVs) to Truong Sa,” which concluded on April 23 in Khanh Hoa province. This was the tenth trip jointly organized for OVs by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOV), and the Naval Command. According to Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, since 2013, the SCOV and the Naval Command have brought over 500 OVs to visit Truong Sa island district and the DK1 platforms.
