On-demand Covid-19 test services available, service fees vary

Some hospitals have begun providing on-demand Covid-19 test services in response to high demand. Nguyen Thu Ha in Bac Tu Liem district in Hanoi said she has returned home from Quang Ninh province where she spent the Tet holiday. She and other family members made health declarations after the return. They were asked to stay in quarantine at home and report to the local medical center if they have a high temperature or cough. If so, they will get tested. However, as Ha is worried about the infection probability, she has decided to use on-demand testing service and pay for the service. Many other people also want to have on-demand tests as the pandemic is still in a complicated situation. The fee for tests is between VND1 million and VND2 million. There are many hospitals in Hanoi recognized by the Ministry of Health as meeting the requirements to test for SARS-CoV-2. The testing center of the University of Public Health has confirmed that the center is providing Covid-19 testing service at a fee of VND1 million to subjects without epidemiological factors. Samples are taken at 9-11 am every day. At Hong Ngoc Hospital, service users have to pay VND1.6 million. At Medlatec, the fee is VND1.199 million. Licensed medical centers have the right to provide on-demand tests. However, hospitals only reserve testing kits to carry out compulsory tests for patients going to the hospitals. Meanwhile, the tests are free if they are conducted for epidemic prevention purposes. At 108 Hospital, people who want to get tested before traveling abroad have to pay VND2,350,000. The E Hanoi Hospital is also one of the medical centers allowed by the Ministry of Health to conduct Covid-19 tests in Hanoi. However, Le Ngoc Thanh, director of the hospital, said the service is only provided to those who have suspected factors or want to go abroad. He went on to say that it would be a wasteful expenditure if tested spontaneously. “The test result is valid only at …

Vietnam Airlines to invest $430 mln to offer ground services at Long Thanh airport

It plans to provide aircraft maintenance services, supply jet fuel and meals, serve passengers in lounges, and set up duty-free shops, the carrier said in a proposal to authorities. These are services the state-owned carrier already provides at major airports in the country. It will bring in 30 percent of the amount from its own resources and borrow the rest. Its subsidiaries can either set up facilities at the airport or joint ventures with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), which oversees the construction and would operate the airport, the proposal said. It hopes to get a dedicated area at the airport to build hangars for aircraft maintenance and in the terminal to prioritize its customers. Construction of the first of three phases of Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai, 40 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City, began in January . The $4.6-billion first phase of the airport is set to be completed by 2025 when it will be able to handle 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo a year. The final phase will be completed by 2040, when the airport will have four runways and four passenger terminals. It will have a capacity of 100 million passengers and five million tons of cargo. …

VNA seeks nod for transporting Covid-19 vaccine to Vietnam By Le Anh A Vietnam Airlines aircraft is parked at an airport. A Vietnam Airlines representative today, February 24, said that the national flag carrier had prepared all the essential resources to meet the stringent requirements for transporting the vaccines by air, including logistics services, modern cold storage facilities, well-trained personnel and frozen product transportation procedures in line with international standards, especially ultra-cold containers to store the vaccines. These are special conditions for the transportation of the vaccines, as they need to be stored at cold temperatures. Apart from that, Vietnam Airlines has years of experience in transporting medical supplies such as medicines, operation equipment and organs for transplantation. The carrier had operated dozens of flights carrying organs such as hearts, livers and kidneys for transplantation under extremely strict storage conditions, tight time constraints and long distances of thousands of kilometers among localities across the country. Such flights require tight cooperation between the relevant units and the health sector. Vietnam Airlines can meet this requirement thanks to its comprehensive transport system. The carrier can also operate wide-body aircraft such as Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 to many global destinations to carry home the vaccines. Further, the carrier has already set up a special unit ready for the transportation of the vaccine upon a request from the authorities. Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam had …
